Many activities in response to World Health Day

World Health Day or World Health Day, abbreviated as WHD (World Health Day) is held on April 7 every year, under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO). World Health Day was established to commemorate the founding of WHO and is considered by this organization as an opportunity to attract the whole world's annual attention to global health, an extremely important topic. In 2023, the theme is "Health for all" - Health for everyone.

Attending the program were Mr. Pham Tat Thang, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Ms. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health ; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union; Ms. Angela Pratt, Chief Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Vietnam, along with representatives of central departments and branches; a large number of young people, students and people in the capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dao Hong Lan said that the Party and State always consider public health care as a core and top priority task; consider investment in public health care as investment in development, making an important contribution to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. In recent years, public health care has achieved many basic results, making an important contribution to the overall achievements of the country; recognized and highly appreciated by authorities at all levels, the people and the international community.

Delegates participate in walking for health

“Under the leadership and direction of the Party and State and the close and effective support and cooperation of WHO and international organizations, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health has been implementing many synchronous solutions to build a legal corridor and deploy technical solutions to gradually overcome difficulties and challenges, improve the capacity of health care at all levels and medical facilities from central to local levels to achieve more achievements in the cause of protecting, improving and caring for people's health,” Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasized.

According to Ms. Angela Pratt, WHO Representative, although the health challenges that Vietnam still faces are enormous, the foundation for addressing these challenges remains very solid, including capable and committed partners, dedicated health workers and especially Government leaders standing side by side on the journey to bring better health to all Vietnamese people.

Thousands of people in the capital receive free health check-ups

Within the framework of the program, the Vietnam Young Physicians Association announced the establishment of organizations according to expertise, fields and pioneering forces in the volunteer movement and digital transformation of the Vietnamese Young Physicians force. 6 affiliated units include: Young Physicians Network 585, Medical Volunteer Ecosystem, Vietnam Young Physicians Association specializing in Oncology, Vietnam Young Pharmacists Association, Network of Young Scientists in Global Health, Vietnam Young Dermatology Association.

Also at the program, delegates performed the warm-up ceremony, performed the folk dance "Vietnam, defeat Covid-19", and participated in the walking activity for health. In addition, more than 3,000 people in Hanoi were examined, screened for diseases and consulted on using the remote health care application (app) by more than 150 doctors from K Hospital (breast cancer screening), Central Endocrinology Hospital (diabetes screening), Central Lung Hospital (obstructive pulmonary disease and tuberculosis screening), Bach Mai Hospital (cardiovascular disease screening), Viet Duc Hospital, Hanoi Heart Hospital, Xanh Pon General Hospital, Dong Da General Hospital, Thanh Nhan Hospital, Duc Giang General Hospital, Hoe Nhai General Hospital and Hanoi Young Physicians Association for general internal examination...

In order to create a healthy playground for young people, the City Youth Union and the Hanoi Youth Union also organized competitions: shuttlecock kicking, artistic juggling, student break dance competition, and walking for health. It is estimated that more than 15,000 people will participate in the activities of World Health Day 2023.
