On November 12, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army held a press conference to introduce activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).

At the press conference, the Organizing Committee provided an overview of the historical stages and main achievements of the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) in 80 years of construction, fighting and growth.

Major General Tran Ngoc Anh, Director of the Political Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) said that the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army is also the traditional day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. The development of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and the activities of the Party and political work are always closely linked to the process of building, fighting, winning, developing and maturing of the Vietnam People's Army.

"Throughout the glorious history of the past 80 years, the General Department of the Vietnam People's Army has always thoroughly grasped the Party's viewpoints and guidelines and the State's policies and laws; proactively, sensitively, and sharply advised and proposed to the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and regularly and directly the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to propose correct and creative policies and decisions in planning strategic guidelines and strategies for the struggle for national liberation, leading and directing the building of the people's armed forces and a strong national defense. In particular, building a politically strong People's Army, making Party work and political work always the "soul and lifeblood" of the Vietnam People's Army" - Major General Tran Ngoc Anh emphasized.

According to Major General Tran Ngoc Anh, the historical reality of the past 80 years has affirmed the quality and effectiveness of the organization and operation of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, political agencies, political cadres at all levels, and Party work and political work hold a particularly important position and role, having a strong and direct impact on the effectiveness of the Party's leadership mechanism with the army, on the political quality and strength of the army.

With a long history and outstanding achievements, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army was awarded by the Party, State and Government: Gold Star Order; 2 Ho Chi Minh Orders; First Class Fatherland Protection Order; Second Class Fatherland Protection Order; Third Class Fatherland Protection Order; Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; First Class Freedom Order of the Lao People's Democratic Republic... On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its traditional day, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army was honored to be awarded the First Class Independence Order by the Party and State.

Also at the press conference, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) said that to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army organized many practical activities, such as: Compiling propaganda documents on the 80th anniversary of the General Department of Politics, deploying propaganda and education in the entire army and the whole country; Compiling the Historical Works of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Volume III, period 2014-2024; compiling, publishing and distributing the photo book "80 years - glorious journeys of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army"; traditional film "80 years of steadfast steps under the Party flag"; contest to learn about the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; exhibition on history, display, introduction of books, newspapers, publications on the history of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
