Ten years – a relatively short period, but long enough for Ho Chi Minh City Book Street to become a familiar cultural destination for millions of readers and tourists, both domestic and international. From its inception, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street has consistently pursued its mission: nurturing a love of books, spreading knowledge and positive cultural values, and contributing to building a learning and creative city.
With the theme "10 Years of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street - A Journey of Spreading Knowledge and Positive Cultural Values," each article is a "piece of memory" contributing to a comprehensive picture of the 10-year journey of the Book Street, a place not only filled with books but also with human kindness, sharing, creative inspiration, and a thirst for knowledge.
The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens and international friends who have experienced Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, regardless of age, occupation, or location. Entries should be between 800 and 1,500 words, written in Vietnamese, and must not have been previously published or entered in other competitions/activities. Content should focus on the following topics: memories, emotions, and stories related to Ho Chi Minh City Book Street; the role and significance of the Book Street in cultural, educational , and tourism life; changes, milestones, and special events at the Book Street over the past 10 years; and proposals, dreams, and new ideas for its future development.
The deadline for submissions is November 15th. Results will be announced and prizes awarded in December 2025 (as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations). Entries should be sent to: 10namduongsachtphcm@gmail.com.
Alongside the writing contest, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street is also collaborating with the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association to launch and select photographic works for an exhibition with the theme " Ho Chi Minh City Book Street - Cultural Impressions Through the Lens of 10 Years". This is an opportunity for readers near and far to capture and share the most beautiful impressions of the 10-year journey of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street.
Requirements for the artwork: Vividly reflect moments, landscapes, people, and activities associated with Ho Chi Minh City Book Street over the past 10 years; express the cultural spirit and community values of the Book Street; possess artistic merit and creativity, and present a unique yet relatable perspective.
The organizers are accepting entries from now until November 15th. The selection for the exhibition will take place from November 17th to 24th. The exhibition opening and awarding of certificates by the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association are scheduled for December 9th at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street. The exhibition is expected to run from December 9th to 21st. Each author may submit a maximum of 10 photo files, in color or monochrome.
