Many interesting activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street

Towards the 10th anniversary of its establishment (2016 - 2026), Ho Chi Minh City Book Street simultaneously launched two writing and photo contests, as a way of expressing gratitude; at the same time, recording the memories, emotions, and interesting experiences of the community of readers, authors, publishers, tourists, and those who have been attached to the Book Street.

Ten years - not a long journey but enough for Ho Chi Minh City Book Street to become a familiar cultural meeting place for millions of readers and tourists at home and abroad. Since its inception, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street has persistently carried out its mission: to nurture the love of books, spread knowledge and good cultural values, and contribute to building a city of learning and creativity.

With the theme “10-year mark of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street - Journey of spreading knowledge and good cultural values”, each article is a “piece of memory” contributing to creating a comprehensive picture of the 10-year journey of Book Street, where there are not only books but also humanity, sharing, creative inspiration and aspiration for knowledge.

The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens and international friends who have had experience with Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, without any restrictions on age, profession, or location. The articles must be 800 - 1,500 words long, in Vietnamese, and have never been published or participated in any other contest/activity. The content of the articles focuses on the following topics: memories, emotions, and stories associated with Ho Chi Minh City Book Street; the role and significance of Book Street in cultural - educational - tourist life; changes, marks, and special events at Book Street in the past 10 years; suggestions, dreams, and new ideas for the next stage of development.

Along with the writing contest, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street also coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association to launch and select photographic works for the exhibition with the theme " Ho Chi Minh City Book Street - 10 years of cultural imprints through the lens". This is an opportunity for readers near and far to record and spread the most beautiful impressions of the 10-year journey of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street.

Requirements for the work: Vividly reflect the moments, landscapes, people, and activities associated with Ho Chi Minh City Book Street over the past 10 years; demonstrate the cultural spirit and community values ​​of the Book Street; be artistic and creative, and express a unique yet familiar perspective.

The Organizing Committee will accept entries from now until November 15. The time for selecting photos for the exhibition will be from November 17 to 24. The exhibition opening and awarding of Certificates issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association is scheduled for December 9 at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street. The exhibition is scheduled from December 9 to 21. Each author can participate with a maximum of 10 photo files, color or monochrome.
