In order to sell in time for the Lunar New Year 2025, gardeners and ornamental grape growing cooperatives in Ninh Thuan province are busy taking care of, pruning, and shaping thousands of ornamental grape pots with many grape varieties and unique bonsai designs to meet people's demand for ornamental plants during Tet.

These days, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tri, owner of Tri Ha grape farm (Nhon Son commune, Ninh Son district) is busy taking care of ornamental grape pots including Red Cardinal red grapes, seedless black finger grapes...

All ornamental grapevines are meticulously cared for, creating layers and canopies. Each ornamental grapevine is 100-120 cm tall, with a radius of about 80 cm between the grape layer belt and the fruit clusters. Depending on the age and type of grape, each ornamental grapevine produces 9-20 fruit clusters. The price of each ornamental grape pot ranges from 500,000 VND to 2 million VND.

“It is expected that this year, the farm will supply about 300 ornamental grape pots to the market. The farm is currently selling wholesale, retail, and home delivery, bringing maximum convenience to customers. In addition, visitors can also visit the farm and enjoy fresh grapes right in the garden before, during, and after Tet," said Mr. Tri.

Similarly, at the A8 Ornamental Grape Cooperative (Phuoc Thuan Commune, Ninh Phuoc District), members are busy completing hundreds of ornamental grape pots to prepare for the Tet season. In addition to traditional grape varieties that are loved by many people, this year the cooperative has also introduced many new unique grape varieties such as seedless black finger grapes, candy grapes, peony grapes, and Kyoho grapes.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hoai, a member of the A8 Ornamental Grape Cooperative, said that to have beautiful ornamental grape pots, growers have to spend a lot of effort and meticulousness. From shaping the grapevines into unique ornamental shapes such as multi-layered circles, solar panels, straight shapes, bonsai grape roots to caring for each bunch of fruit, all require skill and experience.

Each grapevine has its own beauty, with different heights and canopy diameters. In particular, the number of fruit clusters on each tree is also very diverse, from 5 to more than 20 clusters, the price of ornamental grape pots is also very rich, from a few hundred thousand VND to "super products" priced at about 5 million VND, meeting the needs of many customers.

Ornamental grape products of A8 Ornamental Grape Cooperative started to be sold from the beginning of December, the main markets are Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and the provinces of the Southwest. Customers and traders order and use trucks to transport.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hoai said that to preserve and facilitate long-distance transportation, the grape bunches are covered with foam nets and carefully tied with ropes to hold the branches and trees.

Mr. Le Van Chau, a customer buying ornamental grapes (Ham Phu commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan ), expressed his excitement when he first saw the ornamental grape pots at A8 Ornamental Grape Cooperative.

“Previously, I only saw ornamental grapes through newspapers and radio news on my phone. Today, I came to the ornamental grape garden and witnessed the actual vines climbing the trellis to graft branches into pots. The ornamental grape pots were shaped with beautiful clusters of fruit. I will consult, grasp the care information, and choose the most favorite grape pot to display this year's Tet," said Mr. Chau.

Customers often look for ornamental grape pots with a sturdy standing position, lush branches and leaves, with leaves, buds, green fruit, and red ripe fruit, all of which represent the four seasons of the year, representing peace and prosperity. Ornamental grapes are a strange and unique ornamental plant product, so many customers choose to buy them during Tet and Spring.

After Tet, families can pick the fruit, plant grapevines in the ground to climb the trellis to harvest the fruit, or plant them in pots on the terrace or porch for shade. Depending on the soil and weather, after about 6 months to 1 year, the grapevines will bear fruit again.

Mr. Huynh Tuan Anh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Phuoc district, said that recently many gardeners and cooperatives in the area have promoted the development of ornamental grape products. Growing ornamental grapes not only helps people solve local jobs, increase income during Tet, but also gradually increase the value of local specialty products. In the coming time, the locality will continue to encourage and support planting techniques to help people develop diverse products, build brands for ornamental grape products on the market to meet customers' demand for ornamental plants.

Ninh Thuan is currently the locality with the largest grape growing area in the country with over 1,000 hectares, supplying the market with 26,000-28,000 tons of fresh grapes/year.

Along with developing new high-quality fresh grape varieties, the province diversifies processed grape products such as grape wine, grape jam, grape syrup, grape vinegar, dried grapes, etc. and ornamental grape products to serve the diverse needs of the market.
