Farmers in Loc Ha (Ha Tinh) have been affirming their pioneering role in economic development and building new rural districts.
Just raising commercial ducks, laying ducks, and hatching eggs for sale, each year farmer Nguyen Thi Phuong in Tan Loc commune earns a revenue of 1.5 - 1.7 billion VND.
Shock to get rich in rural areas
For many years, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong in Tan Trung village (Tan Loc commune) has been ranked at the top of the list of farmers with good economic performance in Loc Ha district. From zero when starting her career, this determined farmer has turned more than 2 hectares of wild and low-lying fields into a comprehensive farm model growing rice, raising fish, ducks, buffaloes, cows, pigeons, and hatching duck eggs. Her family's model has become an address for many farmers to visit and learn.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong shared: “After more than 20 years of starting a business, up to now, my family's farm has a revenue of nearly 4 billion VND each year, minus production costs, the profit is about 600 million VND. This source of income has helped my family have a stable life, raise our children to study well and support the people around us with economic experience.”
The mud-free eel farming model brings high economic efficiency to farmer Dang Quang Thanh in Ich Hau commune.
Along with Ms. Phuong's family, in Loc Ha there are currently about 500 economic models (revenue from several hundred million to more than 10 billion VND per year) owned by farmers in all fields of production and business.

The farms, ranches, and production facilities with great sustainability and influence in Loc Ha have helped farmers get rich legitimately and created a highlight in the picture of rural production.
Young farmer Nguyen Van Chien in Thach My commune earns 400 - 500 million VND per year from trading and raising crossbred cows.
Ms. Tran Thi Bich Ha - President of the Farmers' Association of Loc Ha district said: "The movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich is spreading more and more in Loc Ha and is closely linked to the implementation of socio-economic development programs and new rural construction in each locality.
In 2023, the whole district had 7,261 households recognized as excellent farmers at all levels, 82 farmers were honored as typical advanced farmers at the district level, and 9 typical advanced individuals at the provincial level. Farmers' production activities have increasingly developed, helping to improve their lives, reduce the poverty rate to 6.84%, promote socio-economic development, and actively contribute to the construction of new rural areas.
Many farmers in Loc Ha have produced large fields with an area of over 5 hectares of rice per crop.
Affirming the role of the subject in building new rural areas
In recent years, in addition to focusing on developing production to achieve an average income per capita of 52 million VND/person/year and reducing the poverty rate to 3.8%, farmers in Mai Phu commune have also actively participated in and promoted their role as the main subject in building the new rural area.
Over the past 10 years, people have continuously contributed their efforts, funds, and assets to build an increasingly prosperous rural landscape. They are the main factor in bringing Mai Phu to the advanced NTM finish line in 2021, striving to reach the model standard in 2024.
Farmers in Mai Phu commune donated land, trees, and demolished fences to open roads according to the criteria of a model new-style rural commune.
Mr. Dao Anh Van - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Mai Phu commune informed: "Under the gathering and encouragement of the association, farmers in the area have considered building a new rural area as a regular task. From 2018 to now, members have contributed billions of VND in cash, over 5,000 working days, donated 20,000 m2 of land to build welfare works; removed 85 sanitation works and relocated hundreds of auxiliary works, installed 450 domestic wastewater treatment pits, poured concrete for 7.5 km of roads of all kinds; completed 7/7 model residential areas, built 42 model gardens, removed 165 mixed gardens... ".
Hong Loc farmers cut down trees, demolished fences and outbuildings to donate land, open roads, and build an advanced rural commune.
Like Mai Phu, the farmers' associations of communes and towns in Loc Ha have gathered, encouraged, and organized members to carry out each task, each criterion, contributing efforts and money towards the common goal; the most prominent of which are the farmers' associations of communes: Thach Chau, Thinh Loc, Ho Do, Loc Ha town, Hong Loc...
With the spirit of "people know, people discuss, people do, people benefit", farmers in the area have actively participated, contributing to bringing 100% of communes to the NTM finish line before 2019. Currently, there are 2 communes that have met the advanced standards and are striving for the district to be recognized as meeting the NTM standards by the end of this year.

Ms. Tran Thi Bich Ha - President of the Farmers' Association of Loc Ha district added: "In the past 5 years (2018 - 2023), members of the Farmers' Association of the whole district have contributed 150,420 working days, donated 36,542 m2 of land to build welfare facilities and tens of billions of VND in cash to build new rural areas.
People have also directly participated in renovating and repairing 10,382 km of roads, 1,365 km of intra-field canals, building and renovating hundreds of cultural houses and village entertainment areas, making 241 model gardens, and renovating 1,382 household gardens. People are also responsible for managing 98 bright - green - clean - beautiful road sections, building 436 settling pits to treat household wastewater, nearly 600 pits to collect and classify waste for treatment...”.
