They brought a vivid picture of practical initiatives and models of mass mobilization that spread widely. Amidst the applause, the warm looks, the tight hugs, we somehow felt the simple image but represented the great achievements: Millions of working days, tens of thousands of projects, drops of sweat soaked into the soil, bore fruit in the hearts of the people and then created a strong "people's hearts" position.
Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To presented certificates of merit from the Minister of National Defense to collectives and individuals. |
The atmosphere of the conference summarizing the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization", building "Good mass mobilization units" for the period 2021-2025 was both solemn and warm with the love between the army and the people radiating to 92 points in the entire army. From the summary report of Major General Be Hai Trieu, Director of the Department of Mass Mobilization, General Department of Politics , the results of the past 5 years were clearly shown: The entire army has built nearly 46,000 houses with a total cost of more than 2,000 billion VND; millions of working days to help people build roads, schools, medical stations; help more than 4,000 households eliminate hunger and reduce poverty... The army is at the forefront of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, overcoming storms and floods, and providing rescue services. Also from the movement, many creative models were born... Behind those numbers and models are the sweat and perseverance of soldiers "eating, living, and working together" with the people.
Following the "Smart Mass Mobilization" models introduced at the conference, we felt more clearly the spirit of "people are the root" - the persistent undercurrent that has led the "Smart Mass Mobilization" Movement for many years. That is the story of Major Hoang Ngoc Linh, a green-uniformed doctor of the Border Guard Command ( Dak Lak Provincial Military Command) with acupuncture sessions in remote areas, sleepless nights with people fighting the epidemic. After twenty years of working at the military-civilian medical station, comrade Linh believes: "Only when people are healthy can the border be stable". His story suggests a simple way of life about the medical ethics of a doctor, taking care of people's health like his own relatives. An acupuncture session in a remote area, a sleepless night with people fighting the epidemic, a reminder to maintain hygiene... seemingly small things can change backward habits and lifestyles that have existed for generations.
That is also the story of Colonel Pham Ngoc Quang, Political Commissar of the Can Tho City Military Command, sharing about the model of "Military-Civilian Tet", the model of "Direct dialogue with policy subjects in the city" of the unit. Thanks to that, it helps to build a great national unity bloc, a solid "people's heart position", strong political and spiritual potential, proactively fight to defeat all plots, tricks, sabotage and divisive activities of hostile forces, maintain political security, social order and safety, create conditions for the local socio-economy to develop quickly, strongly and sustainably.
Listening attentively to each discussion to learn, Colonel Nguyen Van Muoi, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Economic-Defense Group 78 (Army Corps 15) affirmed: In the coming time, the unit will continue to be proactive and self-study ethnic languages; take advantage of holidays and breaks to go to villages and hamlets to exchange and understand the customs and practices of ethnic minorities; to propagate what belongs to traditional identity to promote, what is backward and conservative to gradually eliminate and must be truly harmonious and honest with the people.
Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, praised the achievements of the entire army, and emphasized the spirit of "wherever there is difficulty, there are soldiers; soldiers proactively come to the people, not waiting for the people to have difficulties to come to the soldiers". That reminder is simple but contains philosophy: Mass mobilization is not a seasonal job but the daily breath of the army. Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To also frankly pointed out the limitations, requiring Party committees, commanders, and political agencies at all levels to overcome them, while continuing to strengthen leadership, innovate methods, replicate effective models, consolidate the grassroots political system, and build an increasingly solid "people's hearts and minds position".
At the end of the conference, there was a long applause and bright eyes when each group and individual stepped up to the podium to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense and the Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. It was a source of pride not only for the group and individual but also a common honor for the soldiers who are day and night "listening to the people, speaking so that the people understand, making the people believe", providing strength and encouragement for the new journey.
In the eyes of the delegates, we saw a light of pride and also a great responsibility. Leaving the conference hall, a young mass mobilization cadre from the Central Highlands confided: "We will return and continue to contribute so that the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers will shine in the hearts of the people." Perhaps that was also the biggest message of the conference: Every good model and good work starts from the needs of the people, aiming to serve the people.
