Currently, party members, party cells and party committees are actively contributing their opinions to draft documents at all levels, especially the draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress. One of the key issues attracting attention, research and comments is the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints. This is a work with an extremely important position and role, directly related to maintaining the Party's leadership role.

Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018 of the Politburo on strengthening the protection of ideological foundations and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation clearly stated: "Firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundations and effectively fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints is a fundamental, important and vital content of the Party building and rectification work; is the top priority task of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people, in which the Propaganda force at all levels is the core, and is the voluntary and regular work of Party committees, Party organizations and authorities; the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels; of each locality, agency, unit, and each cadre and Party member, first of all the leader".

Studying the draft documents submitted to the 14th Party Congress, we completely agree with the assessment of the results of the work of protecting the ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints. Summary of the Draft Political Report at the 14th Party Congress assessed: "The work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints has been carried out resolutely, synchronously and effectively". However, it would be more reasonable to add the phrase "extensive" to the assessment.

This is completely consistent with reality when in recent times, under the direction of the Party, the work of protecting the ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints has been promoted by the entire political system in all aspects such as: theoretical research, education , propaganda of the Party's viewpoints, policies, and guidelines, the State's policies and laws; building forces; managing the internet and social networks; propagating positive information, fighting against bad, toxic information, erroneous and hostile viewpoints; fighting, preventing and handling false, bad, toxic information, erroneous and hostile viewpoints on the internet and social networks...

Based on those results, the Conference reviewing 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018 of the Politburo assessed: "The results of implementing Resolution No. 35 have inherited, supplemented and developed the Party's ideological foundation, prevented, repelled and defeated all plots and sabotage activities of hostile, reactionary and opportunistic political forces, promoted economic , cultural and social development, ensured national defense and security, expanded foreign relations; built a contingent of cadres and party members to better meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation; strengthened and consolidated people's trust in the Party, State and regime".

The highest connection between "build" and "anti"

In the section on guiding viewpoints for national construction and development in the new period, the Party determined: "Firmly apply and creatively develop Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, and theories on the renovation path."

Thus, the theory of the renovation line has been raised to a higher level, becoming a component of the Party's ideological foundation. This is completely appropriate because after nearly 40 years, the theory of the renovation line has been formed and continuously supplemented and perfected. The theory of the renovation line has been summarized many times, drawing out regular issues and promoting the role of guiding and illuminating the renovation process in Vietnam in the right direction, achieving many achievements. To prepare for the new platform, it is necessary to raise the theory of the renovation line to a higher level, becoming a component of the Party's ideological foundation. If approved by the 14th Congress, this will be one of the outstanding new points of the 14th Congress.

Regarding tasks and solutions, the Party determined: "Strengthening the building, rectification, and self-renewal so that our Party is truly ethical and civilized, raising the level and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Party's leadership, governance, and fighting strength." In our opinion, this direction is correct but quite general and especially does not fully demonstrate the issue of protecting the ideological foundation in the new era of development, the era of national growth. Perhaps the direction should be emphasized as "Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation in accordance with the era of national growth, especially in cyberspace . "

This emphasis is completely consistent with the theme of the congress, which is "Under the glorious flag of the Party, join hands, be united, and determined to successfully achieve the country's development goals by 2030; be self-reliant, confident, and move forward in the era of national growth, for peace, independence, democracy, wealth, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steadily move towards socialism", and is also logical with the limitations affirmed above when protecting the ideological foundation in cyberspace.

With that approach, protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new era of development, in addition to the content of protecting the ideological foundation defined in Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW, Conclusion No. 89-KL/TW dated July 25, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW, must focus on protecting and promoting breakthroughs in the new era. It can be identified as:

Firstly, the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new era is aimed at creating conditions for the country to develop rapidly and rapidly under the Party's leadership and governance, successfully building a prosperous, democratic, equitable, civilized, prosperous, and happy socialist Vietnam.

Second, innovate thinking and awareness, diversify the content and methods of protecting the Party's ideological foundation on the basis of proactively grasping the situation early and from afar, actively preventing and resolutely fighting and strictly handling destructive factors, and effectively resolving "bottlenecks" in a focused and key manner.

Third, the highest connection between "building" and "fighting", in which building is the basis and foundation to strongly arouse national spirit, patriotism, autonomy, self-confidence, self-reliance, national pride, and the aspiration to develop the country; fighting must be fierce but effective in the spirit of taking advantage of similarities, limiting disagreements, and intertwining "partners - subjects" to create all the best resources for the nation's breakthrough era.

The new era of development is posing new requirements for both thinking and action in all fields, including the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints. Firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation and effectively fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints will be an important premise for the country to enter an era of national growth for peace, independence, democracy, wealth, prosperity, civilization and happiness.
