Multi-generational event

No lecture can be as vivid and convincing as witnessing the Parade and Procession to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory of Spring 1975. The heroic spirit, modern equipment on par with the world , and the ranks of Uncle Ho's soldiers, police officers who sacrificed themselves for the people... have infused into today's social life a generous spirit and many positive emotions.

We witnessed a 76-year-old veteran, carrying the spirit of the days of crossing Truong Son, to today with only an old motorbike, travel 1,300 km to Ho Chi Minh City, along with many old men and women who are disabled, in wheelchairs, who were also brought by their children and grandchildren to witness the parade. The veterans in their familiar green shirts pinned many medals on their chests, very happy, very happy to have fought bravely and returned after the war, to live in peace and enjoy the honor today. Pride and joy burst out, but there were also moments of sadness in the hearts of the old soldiers when remembering the many comrades who sacrificed, forever lying on the battlefield of smoke and fire...

As descendants of a generation of brave veterans, today’s youth consider their fathers and grandfathers as shining examples to follow. They are actively contributing to building an increasingly strong country. They have been passed on the torch by their fathers and are becoming the keepers of the torch, continuing to pass it on to the next generations.

Young people express their patriotism in many different ways, very cute, not idealistic, not needing to be dramatic, because they were born in peace and warmth. Just one photo of a young soldier posted online has received millions of likes because he is so handsome and stylish and also because he is a soldier; girls bring tea, cakes, flowers... as gifts for young soldiers; hugs and handshakes, even hasty kisses. "I love my country, I love you" (soldier) - statements, expressions that "adults" may consider excessive, instinctive but are reasonable for today's youth - a new generation with the spirit of international integration, daring to express themselves fully. Commenting on the above statement, a friend of mine quoted a verse in the poem "Remember" by revolutionary, poet Nguyen Dinh Thi: "I love you like I love my country. Hardship and pain are endlessly fresh" to see the similarity.

When cultural events take on political significance

Not only the parade and military parade attract the attention of the whole society, but these days there are also many cultural activities with profound political significance taking place across the country, such as thematic exhibitions on the April 30 victory, the art programs "North-South Promise", "Spring of Reunification", "Forever the Triumphant Song" ... leaving joy and deep impressions on viewers. We can also mention the VTV special "The Duel of Wills" with the main character in the film being Mr. Craig McNamara, son of former US Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara - who is considered the "chief architect" of the war in Vietnam, along with 50 other interviewees, giving viewers a new perspective on the Vietnam War, on the post-war period and the lingering pain, a very humane perspective.

Besides the very famous films about the war against America, about the April 30 victory that many people are interested in such as: "The Wild Field", "Saigon Commando", "Don't Burn"... The film "Tunnel: The Sun in the Dark" by director Bui Thac Chuyen on this occasion has become a phenomenon of war movies with the highest revenue ever, about to reach the milestone of 160 billion VND. Many young people went to see the film, learned more about the heroic sacrifice of their ancestors to gain independence, and understood more about the price of a peaceful life today. The film attracted the attention of many people, showing the passionate love for independence and freedom and the pride of the people in the April 30 victory that is always overflowing.

That pride and patriotism have always flowed in our veins, allowing us to live more positively and to make our nation more united.

Youth make patriotic songs a trend on social networks

Young people have different ways to express their patriotism. On this occasion, events such as youth camps, history competitions, and meetings with historical witnesses were organized. Young people actively participated in movements such as “Repaying gratitude”, visiting martyrs’ families, taking care of martyrs’ cemeteries, and attending historical storytelling sessions.

Many young people have composed poems, songs, drawn pictures or made clips to express their love for the country... on social media platforms related to the April 30th victory anniversary and many songs with love for the homeland have quickly become trends, attracting millions of views.
