Where memories and aspirations converge

Artists of Ho Chi Minh City aim for a major event of the cultural and artistic sector with the aspiration to contribute to enriching the image of the city named after Uncle Ho.

From September 23, in preparation for the peak period towards the event to celebrate the glorious achievements of the cultural sector in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Culture and Sports (VH-TT) of the city has directed the City Drama Theater and related agencies to prepare a series of meaningful activities, gathering a large number of artists in the area.

Reunion and gratitude

Accordingly, from October 16 to 18, at the Youth Cultural House, a special cultural and artistic week will take place as an important highlight in a series of activities summarizing 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City literature and art (1975 - 2025).

The week will open with the exhibition space "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Art Days - Where Rivers Converge", taking place at 6 p.m. on October 16 at the Youth Cultural House. The exhibition introduces the creative imprints, works, images and stories of generations of artists who have contributed to the appearance of the city's literature and art over the past half century.

Singers Nguyen Phi Hung and Anh Ngoc perform the theme song of the "Golden Bell of Traditional Music" contest celebrating its 20th anniversary - one of the cultural highlights of Ho Chi Minh City.

Immediately after, the opening art program at 7:30 p.m. on the same day will bring the audience to stage and music performances recreating the proud and emotional 50-year journey. The vibrant and youthful street activities at the welcome gate 4A Pham Ngoc Thach Street promise to contribute to creating a spreading festival atmosphere.

In parallel with the above activities, at 9am on October 16, at Phu Tho Circus and Multi-purpose Performance Theater, there will be a "Meeting of Outstanding Artists". The meeting is a place to reunite and honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the city's cultural and artistic sector.

Next is the exchange and performance of poetry and music "50 years - Poetry and music take off with the city" (7:00 p.m. on October 17 at the Youth Cultural House), connecting music and poetry, evoking love for the city.

The closing ceremony and cultural and artistic exchange with Nghe An province (7 p.m. on October 18) will affirm the spirit of solidarity and sharing between two lands rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions.

Inspire pride and creativity

Meritorious Artist Le Thien hopes that generations of veteran artists who were in the war zone, then the regrouped forces, along with the Southern Drama Troupe and the Southern Opera Troupe will be invited to attend this meaningful week. Through these exchanges and meetings, there will be many valuable lessons to be passed on to the younger generation of artists, making the city famous, worthy of being a creative city when this October it joins the world's "creative city" network of cinematographic arts.

Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong emphasized that when cinema is considered the spearhead of a "creative city", other fields such as theater, music, fine arts, literature, and photography cannot stay out of the game, especially when the city aims to promote the cultural industry.

Speaking about the significance of the week, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, shared that the event is not only an opportunity to look back on 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts, but also to arouse the pride, creativity and social responsibility of artists. This is also an opportunity for the public, especially the youth, to approach and feel the humanistic values ​​that have been and are creating the city's identity.

Over the past 50 years, Ho Chi Minh City’s literature and arts have witnessed and reflected great changes. The Culture and Arts Week will therefore be a festival that attracts public attention. Currently, artists are diligently practicing, promising to announce many new works.
