Mr. Hoi started developing and grafting fruit trees of all kinds since 1992. At the beginning, he grafted from 4,000 to 5,000 fruit trees of all kinds each year such as: hybrid plum and peach, Vanh Khuyen persimmon, Bao Lam seedless persimmon...
Mr. Hoi said: Through several times of directly going down to learn and buy seedlings at the Hanoi Agricultural University I (now the Vietnam Agricultural Academy), I learned some techniques of growing and grafting seedlings. Accordingly, since 1992, I started to grow seedlings for my family to grow and sell to households in the commune who had demand. Gradually, the movement of growing and grafting seedlings for economic development has developed strongly in the village and Tan My commune.
With the desire to gather households developing fruit tree nursery models of all kinds, in 2001, Mr. Hoi and 8 households in the village established Thanh Tan Cooperative (HTX) with the main activities in the field of fruit tree development and seedling supply. By joining the Cooperative, members can share, exchange and learn experiences in implementing techniques for nursery and grafting fruit trees of all kinds.
In recent years, the Vanh Khuyen rose has a stable consumption market, is purchased by traders in the garden, bringing high economic value, so people pay attention to care and expand the planting area. Realizing the increasing demand of people for seedlings, from 2018 to now, Mr. Hoi's family has focused on developing the nursery of Vanh Khuyen rose seedlings. Accordingly, on average, each year, his family nurses over 40,000 seedlings; traders and people choose to buy them in the garden at prices ranging from 20,000 to 60,000 VND/tree depending on the size and beauty of the tree.
Along with developing the nursery and grafting model, Mr. Hoi's family is currently taking care of over 2 hectares of Vanh Khuyen persimmons (about 800 trees) which have all yielded fruit. Thanks to proper care, his family's Vanh Khuyen persimmon garden yields an average of 8 to 10 tons of fruit per year. In years with favorable weather, his family harvests 15 to 20 tons of fruit. With stable selling prices and consumption markets, from developing nursery seedlings and growing Vanh Khuyen persimmons, Mr. Hoi's family has an income of over 300 million VND per year (after deducting expenses).
Besides developing an economic model that brings high income, Mr. Hoi also creates seasonal jobs for 5 local workers with an income of 250,000 VND/person/day.
Mr. Dinh Van Vu, Chairman of Tan My Commune People's Committee, Van Lang District commented: Mr. Hoi is one of the typical farmers in the commune, he dares to think, dares to do, actively learns, proactively applies science and technology to successfully develop a model of growing fruit trees and raising seedlings for high income. His nursery has become a trusted address for many households in the commune as well as people in districts in the province. He not only enriches his family but also helps, shares experiences and guides techniques for people in the area to learn and follow.
In recognition of his efforts in developing the family economy, in January 2025, Mr. Nong Van Hoi was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for being a farmer with an effective economic development model, contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and job creation for local workers.
