Farmers earn over 15 million VND/sao of melon grown in greenhouses

Farmers in Hai Duong are selling melons grown in greenhouses for 23,000 - 25,000 VND/kg.

Many greenhouses in Kinh Mon town are harvesting melons to supply domestic supermarkets.

On May 26, representatives of several cooperatives in Gia Loc, Thanh Mien, and Kinh Mon districts said that households are harvesting melons, selling them at prices ranging from 23,000 to 24,000 VND/kg, down about 5,000 VND/kg compared to last month.

The reason is that in the summer many types of fruit are harvested. The melon market is being competed by imports from China.

This year, the weather is favorable so the melons grown in greenhouses grow and develop well, yielding about 1.3 tons/sao. With the current selling price, people earn a profit of over 15 million VND/sao.

The province currently has over 90 hectares of greenhouses and net houses. Cultivation in greenhouses and net houses helps improve productivity and quality of agricultural products.
