57-year-old female patient with 7kg ovarian tumor due to subjective psychology that Vietnamese women often suffer from

Information from Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital said that the hospital recently successfully performed surgery to remove a 7kg tumor from a female patient in Hanoi.

That is patient Nguyen Thi H (57 years old in Dan Phuong, Hanoi). The patient was admitted to the hospital with lower abdominal pain and a distended abdomen.

Taking the patient's medical history, the doctor said that the patient had symptoms of lower abdominal pain and a distended abdomen, but due to subjectivity, she did not go for regular health check-ups. Recently, she felt her abdomen was larger and bloated, so she went to Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital for examination.

Through examination, testing, and abdominal MRI, the results showed that the patient's abdomen was occupied by a multi-lobed mass with even outer edges and a pulse signal inside, which on Doppler ultrasound exceeded the probe size. The image suggested a malignant ovarian tumor.

Doctor Nguyen Duc Phuc (Head of Gynecological Oncology Department) diagnosed a large ovarian tumor, monitored ovarian cancer, and ordered the patient to be hospitalized for immediate tumor removal and biopsy, and treated according to the lesion.

The surgical team, including Dr. Nguyen Manh Tri (senior expert), Dr. Nguyen Duc Phuc (Head of Gynecological Oncology Department), performed surgery to remove the tumor. Because the tumor was large and had a rich supply of blood vessels, the risk of bleeding was very high, making surgery difficult. The anesthesiologists were fully prepared with backup methods to promptly resuscitate the patient.

The surgical team performed surgery meticulously, removing an ovarian tumor about 30cm in size and weighing nearly 7kg for biopsy.

The surgery was successful, the patient was monitored postoperatively at the Department of Gynecological Oncology.
