Implementing Resolution No. 20 of the Provincial Party Committee on agricultural development for the period 2021 - 2025, Tran Yen district has issued many practical and specific action plans. Comrade Nguyen Thanh Le - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee shared: "Agricultural development is not just a matter of crops but a long-term development strategy. Tran Yen takes people as the center, takes value chain linkage as the driving force and takes sustainable efficiency as the core criterion".

From that orientation, Tran Yen has continuously restructured the agricultural sector towards improving product quality and value; prioritizing high technology, encouraging organic production, focusing on trademark registration and building geographical indications for key products. The district has now protected intellectual property for 9 products, including brands widely known in the market such as: Tran Yen green tea, Tran Yen dry cinnamon bark, Tran Yen grapefruit, Tran Yen hill chicken, Tran Yen honey, Quy Mong vermicelli, Hung Thinh tangerine and Minh Quan red-fleshed dragon fruit, along with the geographical indication "Bat Do Yen Bai bamboo shoots".

Currently, Tran Yen has formed many large-scale commodity production areas, with close links between farmers - cooperatives - processing and export enterprises. The figures demonstrate the resilience of the district's agricultural sector: Bat Do bamboo shoots over 5,000 hectares, output over 34,000 tons/year; mulberry over 1,000 hectares, cocoon output over 1,600 tons/year; cinnamon 20,000 hectares, of which 12,000 hectares meet organic standards; fruit trees over 1,000 hectares; livestock farming over 700 establishments, poultry output for sale nearly 10,000 tons/year.

Not only production, the district also focuses on processing and traceability. Tran Yen currently has 17 areas/facilities that have achieved quality certification according to VietGAP, domestic and international organic standards. Of which: 6 VietGAP certifications, 3 domestic organic certifications, 1 Organic certification for cinnamon trees.

Identifying the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) Program as an important strategy to increase the value of agricultural products, Tran Yen has mobilized participation from the district to the village level. Up to now, the district has had 50 OCOP products achieving 3-4 stars, far exceeding the set target. Of which, 8 products achieved 4 stars and 42 products achieved 3 stars.

OCOP products are not only labeled with traceability stamps but also meet VietGAP, organic standards, and have clear geographical indications. Many outstanding products have become symbols of Tran Yen agricultural products such as Dao Thinh cinnamon sticks, Hoa Cuong cinnamon powder, Bat Do Kien Thanh sour bamboo shoots, Bao Hung green tea... In particular, 4 production facilities have met HACCP standards - the world's leading strict food safety standards.

The solid foundation for sustainable agricultural development cannot be mentioned without mentioning the "new generation" farmers in Tran Yen - those who have boldly applied science - technology, mechanized production. In Hung Thinh commune, Mr. Ha Dinh Giap's grapefruit growing model with an area of 1.5 hectares has successfully applied modern irrigation and fertilization techniques. In Khang Chinh village, Mr. Mai Van Tinh invested in 3.5 hectares of CT9 and CT36 oranges from the Cooperation Project with Hung Vuong University.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuom in Yen Dinh village has developed a model of raising sows and pigs for meat using biotechnology, with a scale of up to 250 pigs for meat and 45 sows. Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Chairman of Hung Thinh Commune People's Committee shared: "The commune has planned and formed a concentrated fruit growing area. The two main products, Duong Canh tangerines and Dien grapefruits, have been recognized as OCOP and put on the e-commerce platforms Postmart and Voso.vn".

According to Ms. Trieu Thi Bich Lieu - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tran Yen district, many key products of the district have been exported to the world such as: cinnamon exported to Europe; Bat Do bamboo shoots exported to Japan, Taiwan, China; silk exported to China and India... "Product quality has been improved, value has increased, people's lives have also improved. This is a vivid proof of the model of integrated - modern - sustainable agriculture" - Ms. Lieu emphasized.

Tran Yen today is not only a land of "green tea, fragrant cinnamon, fragrant bamboo shoots, golden silk", but also a vivid image of a locality that knows how to "take shortcuts and take the lead", harmoniously combining tradition and modernity, indigenous experience and modern technology. In that journey of transformation, the main agricultural products are the precious "pearls" crystallized from the land, people and aspirations to reach far.

In 2024 - 2025, Tran Yen district strives to have at least 2 5-star OCOP products; export 8-10 key agricultural and forestry products to international markets; build an agricultural model combining experiential tourism of mulberry growing - silkworm raising - silk weaving, exploiting indigenous culture, creating unique tourism products; continue to encourage the development of clean, organic, high-tech, smart agriculture, associated with modern preservation, processing and consumption.
