Mr. Le Hoai Trung holds the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs

On the morning of October 25, at the 10th Session, with 100% of the National Assembly delegates present in agreement, the National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of a number of Ministers for the 2021-2026 term.

Accordingly, the National Assembly approved Mr. Le Hoai Trung to hold the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs , Mr. Tran Duc Thang to hold the position of Minister of Agriculture and Environment, and Mr. Do Thanh Binh to hold the position of Minister of Home Affairs.

The Resolution takes effect from the date of its approval by the National Assembly (October 25, 2025).

Previously, on October 24, with 418/418 delegates voting in favor, the National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss Mr. Bui Thanh Son from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra from the position of Minister of Home Affairs; and Mr. Do Duc Duy from the position of Minister of Agriculture and Environment.

Mr. Le Hoai Trung, born in 1961, hometown: Hue city, is a member of the Party Central Committee, term XII, XIII, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term XIII (from October 2023), and a delegate of the National Assembly, term XV.

In December 2010, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. From March 2021, he was transferred and appointed to the position of Head of the Central External Relations Commission; in February 2025, he was appointed to the position of Chief of the Party Central Office.

In Decision No. 1868/QD-TTg dated August 29, 2025, the Prime Minister received Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office, to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assigning the authority of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In Decision No. 347/QD-DU dated August 29, 2025, the Standing Committee of the Government Party Committee appointed Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2025-2030 term.
