Mr. Le Quang Tung was appointed Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee.

The Politburo appointed Mr. Le Quang Tung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary General of the National Assembly, and Head of the National Assembly Office, to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

On September 27, the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, officially held its session with the motto "unity - democracy - discipline - breakthrough - development".

Attending the congress were Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung; representatives of central departments, ministries and branches, and 484 delegates representing 143,000 party members of 109 party committees under the Can Tho City Party Committee.

At the congress, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo's decision on appointing 77 members to the Executive Committee and 18 members to the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

In addition, the decision to transfer, appoint and assign Mr. Le Quang Tung to cease participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the National Assembly for the 2020-2025 term and related positions; transfer to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term was announced.

Previously, the Politburo had decided to transfer and assign tasks to Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, to take on the role of Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The transfer decisions will be handed over at the new agency or unit.

Mr. Le Quang Tung (54 years old), from Ha Tinh province, has a doctorate in economic management and is a traffic mechanical engineer. He is an official who has worked in many ministries, branches, and localities, such as: Director of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee.

Previously, on November 28, 2024, at the eighth session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly passed a resolution to elect Mr. Le Quang Tung as Secretary General of the 15th National Assembly. On the same day, the National Assembly Standing Committee met and elected Mr. Tung to hold the position of Chief of the National Assembly Office and Chief of the Office of the National Assembly Party Delegation.
