Deputy Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huy Dung was elected by the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province to hold the position of Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

On the afternoon of September 6, the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province held its 20th session (special session) to consider many important contents related to solutions to promote socio-economic development; and implement personnel work procedures according to authority.

At this session, the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province carried out the procedure to dismiss Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, from the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province for the 14th term, 2021 - 2026, because he was elected by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee and approved by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee from July 12.

After that, the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province carried out the process of electing the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 14th term, 2021 - 2026.

According to the vote counting results, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, was elected to hold the position of Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee for the 14th term, 2021 - 2026, with a vote rate of 98.4%.

Speaking at the new position, the new Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Huy Dung, affirmed that he will be the core of solidarity for the Party Executive Committee and the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee; fully promote the capacity to implement the policies and orientations of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee.

Also according to the new Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, one of the key contents that will be promoted and focused on in the coming time is to digitize government activities from the province to the commune; digitize and green economic, cultural and social activities to create a transparent administrative environment, bringing the government, people and businesses closer together; develop infrastructure and social security; nurture a strong Thai Nguyen business community...

Previously, the Standing Committee of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the decision on personnel work of the Central Party Secretariat. According to this decision, the Secretariat assigned and appointed Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, from Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi (originally from Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province), was a former student of the Mathematics Specialized High School of Hanoi National University of Education, a student of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and received a full scholarship from the Singapore Government and the Vietnamese Government to study Information Technology at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

Before being elected as Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung worked at the Ministry of Information and Communications and held leadership positions: Deputy Director, Director of the Department of Information Security; Department of Information Technology (now the Department of National Digital Transformation).

In November 2020, at the age of 37, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung was appointed by the Prime Minister as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, and was also the youngest Deputy Minister at that time.
