According to RT, in an interview held yesterday (October 11), Mr. Peskov said that it does not matter who wins the US presidential election. Answering the question of whether President Putin will congratulate the winner of the US election after the results are announced, Mr. Peskov said: "I think not, after all, the US is an extremely unfriendly country." The term "unfriendly country" refers to countries that Moscow believes have committed hostile actions against Russia and its people. The US, the UK and European Union (EU) countries are on the list, along with a number of other countries. Bilateral relations between Russia and the US plummeted in 2022 when Washington and its allies imposed a series of economic sanctions on Moscow after the conflict in Ukraine escalated. Moreover, the White House has provided Kiev with significant economic and military aid. Russian officials have condemned the US move and accused Washington of playing a direct role in the fighting. Mr Peskov previously said that US-Russia relations had hit a record low during the term of outgoing President Joe Biden. He added that there were “no prospects” for improvement. President Putin congratulated Donald Trump and Joe Biden after the 2016 and 2020 US presidential elections.Vietnamnet.vn
