VTV.vn - The draft documents submitted to the 14th Party Congress have taken a new step forward by setting the goal of having basically no poor households by 2030.

The draft documents to be submitted to the 14th Party Congress are currently being consulted by the people. The draft sets the goal of "Striving to achieve the goal of basically having no poor households by 2030".

Based on strong political determination and achievements over the past decades, many opinions affirm that this goal set by our Party in the document is practical and completely feasible.

While the 13th Party Congress Documents advocated adjusting multidimensional poverty standards, ensuring minimum living standards and basic services for the people, the Draft Documents submitted to the 14th Party Congress took a new step forward when setting the goal of basically having no poor households by 2030.

Mr. Hoang Van Cuong (National Assembly Delegate of Hanoi City ) commented: "Eliminating poverty means we have achieved the goal of striving for all people to enjoy the rights and values ​​of happiness in life."

Poverty reduction is an important pillar of the social security system.

However, some opinions suggest that it is necessary to classify specific target groups, have priority policies, and provide targeted support to ensure sustainability and prevent re-poverty.

"In the next term, the basic goal of having no more poor households is completely achievable," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Viet Thong (former General Secretary of the Central Theoretical Council) affirmed.

Poverty reduction is an important pillar in the social security system. Currently, the national poverty rate is only 1.3%; localities have basically completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses with over 334,000 houses for policy households, poor and near-poor households.

The national target programs have also shown clear effectiveness in the core poor areas. However, to ensure the goals as set out in the document, comments said that it is necessary to concretize the resolution's action program with breakthroughs.

"It is possible to achieve the goal of no more poor households with the current poverty line. We need to note that in the new period of 2026-2030, we will issue a new poverty line, suitable to the living standards and development of the country," said Mr. Vo Van Hung (Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment ).

Effectively resolving social policies, ensuring security, welfare, safety and security for the people, especially policy beneficiaries and vulnerable groups, is a key task that the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress have emphasized. Successfully implementing this task will contribute to the early completion of the goals that our Party has always been steadfast in the process of socio-economic development, contributing to the realization of the country's development strategies in the new era.
