The competition aims to find high-quality stage scripts with fresh language, rich educational and humanistic values, to be adapted into musicals for children in Vietnam.
Through this competition, the Organizing Committee hopes to mobilize the creative force of professional and amateur authors in Vietnam to create and select many high-quality scripts, serving as a foundation for staging outstanding musicals for children, enhancing their spiritual lives and meeting the public's need for artistic enjoyment, and contributing to overcoming the shortage of theatrical works for teenagers and children in recent times.
A representative from the Youth Theatre stated, “The ‘Children’s Scriptwriting Competition in Vietnam’ is organized building on the success of recent exchange and co-creation projects between artists from the Youth Theatre and SangsangMaru Theatre, which have introduced to the Vietnamese public a number of outstanding musicals staged according to contemporary creative trends worldwide and received the attention and enthusiastic response of a large number of young audiences.”
This is also a proactive step to introduce to audiences a relatively new form of musical theater in Vietnam, becoming a positive factor in building a foundation for the development of this art form, contributing to bringing the artistic activities of children closer to contemporary performance trends around the world.
The organizers hope that this competition will discover works that can tell the story of Vietnam in a way that is moving and resonates with the world, aiming to conquer international audiences and contribute to promoting the image of Vietnam, its people, and its culture through theatrical art.
According to the rules, Vietnamese citizens over 19 years old residing, studying, or working in Vietnam and around the world, both professional and amateur writers, can participate in the competition. The organizers especially encourage young writers who are passionate about the care and education of children and the development of theatrical arts.
