On May 22, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and Vietnam Television held a press conference to launch the annual media award on human rights called: "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2025".
In 2025, Vietnam will rise 8 places compared to 2024 and 19 places compared to 2023, ranking 46th in the world in terms of happiness index. This is a milestone showing the international community's recognition of Vietnam's policies, achievements and efforts to ensure human rights in recent years.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh emphasized that the "Happy Vietnam 2025" Award targets a very wide range of people to seek every moment of happiness in life.
"Happiness from any perspective, regardless of individual, must be closely linked to national pride. Vietnam has things that many other nations desire but do not have, which are peace, independence, and peace in life," Permanent Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh emphasized.
Through the Award, the Organizing Committee wants to convey the message that Vietnam is moving rapidly and developing strongly and comprehensively in all fields: Breakthrough in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; International integration in the new situation; Innovation in law making and enforcement; Fast, sustainable, effective and high-quality private economic development.
The clearest evidence of the country's achievements in innovation and development and the people's happiness are the authentic, vivid stories in pictures and videos about the above topics created and submitted by the people themselves.
Authors, whether professional or amateur, Vietnamese or foreign, aged 15 and over can participate in the Award.
The entries will be carefully selected by the Organizing Committee according to specific and clear criteria, stipulated in the Award Rules and judged fairly and objectively by leading experts, journalists, prestigious photographers and filmmakers in 2 Judging Panels: Preliminary Judging Panel and Final Judging Panel.
The purpose of organizing a series of events, exhibitions and the Media Award on human rights in Vietnam in 2025 (Happy Vietnam 2025) is to discover and honor meaningful stories about all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural and social life, vividly affirming the achievements that Vietnam has made in the field of human rights.
Mobilize the total strength of all classes of people in the country, the Vietnamese community abroad and international friends in communication work, promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world to affirm to the world that Vietnam is a peaceful, beautiful country, dynamically developing and a happy country.
General criteria for the content of the entries: Introduce and promote the image of the country, Vietnamese people, cultural and natural values throughout the country; arouse national pride and aspiration for development in all classes of Vietnamese people to join hands to build an increasingly prosperous, prosperous and happy Vietnam.
The works will truthfully and vividly reflect Vietnam's development achievements in all fields, especially in the process of innovation, development and international integration; convey valuable information and knowledge to the public and have a wide spread at home and abroad.
Deadline for submissions: From May 22, 2025 to September 30, 2025
Contestants: Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over
The award consists of two categories: Photo and Video.
Each contest category (photo and video) will have one First Prize worth 50,000,000 VND, two Second Prizes worth 30,000,000 VND, three Third Prizes worth 15,000,000 VND, 10 Encouragement Prizes worth 5,000,000 VND, one Most Voted Work Prize worth 5,000,000 VND.
The Organizing Committee encourages and will award a creative prize in each category (photo and video) worth 20,000,000 VND for works with new ideas, creativity in content and form of expression.
In addition, the Organizing Committee will award monthly prizes including First, Second, and Third prizes to the highest voted works of the month in each category.
The Jury will select the award through two rounds of Preliminary and Final, both online and in person.
