More than 2,000 cases of alcohol concentration detected per day, Director of Traffic Police Department warns

On October 24, the traffic police checked 57,339 drivers (5,155 passenger cars, 3,396 trucks, 11,621 cars, 36,173 motorbikes, 4 special-purpose cars, 990 non-motorized vehicles). Through inspection, 2,062 cases of alcohol concentration violations were detected and recorded.

On October 25, a representative of the Traffic Police Department said that, following the order of Major General Do Thanh Binh, Director of the Department, the Traffic Police force of 34 localities continued to simultaneously control alcohol concentration for drivers participating in traffic from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. the same day.

Accordingly, on October 24 alone, the traffic police force checked 57,339 drivers (5,155 passenger cars, 3,396 trucks, 11,621 cars, 36,173 motorbikes, 4 special-purpose cars, 990 rudimentary vehicles). Through inspection, 2,062 cases of alcohol concentration violations were detected and recorded (including: 11 trucks, 47 cars, 1,959 motorbikes, 45 rudimentary vehicles and other vehicles).

Regarding the results of detecting more than 2,000 cases of drivers with alcohol concentration in one day, Major General Do Thanh Binh said that this result reflected the habit of a part of traffic participants who have not strictly complied with the regulations on prohibiting driving vehicles with alcohol concentration in the body. In big cities, although the handling results are high, they are not commensurate with the actual situation on the route and area. "The fact that on the evening of October 24, the traffic police force prevented the risk of more than 2,000 traffic accidents and collisions caused by drivers with alcohol concentration is an alarming number" - the Director of the Traffic Police Department emphasized.

The national traffic police carrying out the order of the Director of the Traffic Police Department to simultaneously control a specific violation at the same time nationwide will be a regular, continuous and non-stop task, even during holidays and Tet, until the habit of "don't drive after drinking alcohol" is established.
