Ha Anh Tuan's music documentary participates in Vietnam Film Festival

Documentary 'Brilliant Horizon' by Ha Anh Tuan, directed by Lan Nguyen, will compete in the 24th Vietnam Film Festival.

Brilliant Horizon originated from the concert of the same name by Ha Anh Tuan taking place in the spring of 2023 at the festival grounds of King Dinh and King Le temples, the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh. The music night combined modern music with traditional music, gathering more than 20,000 spectators.

In that performance, Ha Anh Tuan brought the art of Xam singing back to the big stage, combining modern music with the Zen-philosophical spirit of the music legend Kitaro and giving a meaningful gift to the program Nhu Chua He Co Cuoc Chia Ly. After more than 2 years of filming and completing, director Lan Nguyen expanded the idea into a documentary, not only to preserve the music, but also to listen to stories about the origin and the return.

Talking about the project, director Lan Nguyen shared: "The film is my own complicated journey, to find 'homeland', not a place name, but a feeling of 'belonging'. I believe that every audience member has a similar journey."

The film depicts the picture of Ninh Binh homeland through famous places: Van Long lagoon, Ma Yen mountain, Tam Coc, Thai Vi temple, Bai Dinh pagoda... Traditional music blends with modern breath, led by the voice and singing of Ha Anh Tuan - a son of Ninh Binh land.

Before coming to the Vietnam Film Festival, this documentary had its premiere at the 15th European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival in September 2025 in Hanoi . At the 24th Vietnam Film Festival, the work continued its journey as one of the few independent documentaries selected to compete in the official competition, contributing a distinct voice to the contemporary Vietnamese documentary genre.

The documentary Brilliant Horizon will also have its premiere on November 21 at a cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. Free tickets will be distributed from November 15 (limited quantity).

The 24th Vietnam Film Festival is a special national cultural and artistic event in 2025.

Taking place from November 21-25 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the slogan "Vietnamese Cinema - Sustainable development and international integration in the new era", the event not only honors excellent works but also affirms the mettle and integration aspirations of Vietnamese cinema in the era of digital transformation and globalization.
