Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism: Never before has Vietnamese cinema been supported like it is today.

On the morning of November 5, the first press conference on the 24th Vietnam Film Festival - 2025 took place in Hanoi. The program, with the theme "Vietnamese Cinema - Sustainable Development and International Integration in the New Era," will last from November 21 to November 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Although the list of competing films has not been announced, the public predicts that the participation of 3 films "Red Rain" (over 700 billion), "Death Battle in the Sky" (over 250 billion VND) and "Tunnel" (about 172 billion VND) and some of the 6 other Vietnamese films that have achieved "hundreds of billions" in revenue for hundreds of years will be indispensable.

All with historical themes of national defense and security, the three films attracted attention during the recent major celebrations of A50 (April 30) and A80 (September 2).

The total revenue of the three films reached about 1,138 billion VND according to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, contributing to the total domestic revenue of Vietnamese films from the beginning of 2025 to now exceeding 3,000 billion VND, far exceeding 2024 (about 1,800 billion VND).

“Never before have Vietnamese films been so well received by audiences as they are today. Even when there are many foreign films being shown at the same time, Vietnamese films still dominate at the box office,” commented Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong.

Also at the press conference, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that there will be plans to invite historical figures to the film festival, especially since Ho Chi Minh City is currently home to many veterans and heroic Vietnamese mothers...

The 24th Vietnam Film Festival (2025) will have outstanding activities such as screenings in theaters, outdoor screenings, and film crew exchanges. Notably, many "hundred-billion" films such as "Red Rain," "Detective Kien," "The Four Guardians" will return to theaters...

In addition, the program also includes discussions on developing the cultural industry in the film sector; strategies to help develop and improve the capacity to attract film crews to Vietnamese provinces...

The organizers also said there will be a concert, performing many excellent movie soundtracks of recent times, held on the walking street to entertain tourists.

This year's Vietnam Film Festival has special significance as it responds to the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, and looks forward to the National Congress; and also promotes the title that Ho Chi Minh City is striving to achieve - the title of UNESCO Creative City of Cinema.

According to information from the organizing committee, this is also the film festival that attracts the most works with 202 films submitted. After the selection process, the festival will screen and give out free tickets to 16 feature films, 36 documentaries, 14 science films and 21 animations.

There will be one Golden Lotus Cup, two Silver Lotus Cups and two jury awards for each category of feature film, documentary and animation. There will be one trophy for each category of scientific film. In addition, there will be awards for cinematography, special effects, best actor and actress...

The opening ceremony of the film festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on November 21, 2025 at the Independence Palace, broadcast on VTV2 channel./.
