Vice Chairman of the National Assembly: Dien Bien needs to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector

Implementing the working program in Dien Bien province, on March 20, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the working delegation had a working session with the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee.

At the working session, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong summarized the outstanding results from the delegation's survey trip to Dien Bien province, focusing on the fields of socio -economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security, foreign affairs, and the work of arranging administrative units and streamlining the apparatus.

In addition, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also shared with the provincial leaders some strategic orientations in socio-economic development and the Central Government's policies on perfecting the grassroots apparatus organization, aiming to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the political system.

Based on the results of the actual survey, in order to ensure economic growth and complete the goals and targets set for 2025 and the following stages, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that Dien Bien province focus on implementing a number of key tasks.

Specifically, the province needs to build a new growth model towards developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector; promoting commodity agriculture associated with the application of science and technology, digital transformation, high technology, and at the same time taking the private economy as a key driving force for development.

At the same time, the province needs to arrange and perfect the administrative apparatus in a streamlined, effective and efficient manner, in order to create a foundation for a fast, sustainable and stable growth model.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that the province needs to pay special attention to leadership, direction and effective implementation of national target programs; strive to comprehensively complete education and health targets.

In particular, economic development must be associated with the task of ensuring national defense and security and effectively exploiting the economic potential of border gates, in order to create a driving force to promote comprehensive development for the locality.

At the meeting, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong informed the delegation about the province's outstanding results in socio-economic development; ensuring national defense-security and foreign affairs.

Among them, the Provincial Party Secretary especially emphasized Dien Bien's efforts in promoting border economic development in Muong Nhe district.

In the coming time, the province will focus on solving employment problems associated with stabilizing housing for the people, creating a sustainable foundation for social security. The province will focus on developing tourism associated with agriculture, exploiting the strengths of natural landscapes and cultural identities of ethnic groups; promoting the training of high-quality human resources, enhancing potential in building defense works, ensuring national defense.

Dien Bien province proposed that the Central Government and the National Assembly continue to pay attention to and support the province in opening more international flights to promote development and tourism connection between the locality and the provinces of Northern Laos, Thailand and China.

At the same time, the province proposed to have preferential policies and specific support for mountainous provinces, including Dien Bien, to maximize available potential and advantages.

In addition, the province hopes to receive support from the Central Government in strongly implementing breakthroughs in digital transformation in all fields, contributing to modernizing the economy and improving the efficiency of local management and administration.

Previously, on March 19, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong and his delegation had a working session with Muong Nhe district to assess the situation and results of implementing the Resolution of the Provincial and District Party Congress on socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security, foreign affairs and the work of arranging administrative units and streamlining the apparatus in the district.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong and the delegation offered incense at the Memorial Site of Heroic Martyr Tran Van Tho (Leng Su Sin Commune); presented 200 gifts, worth 200 million VND to policy households in Muong Nhe District; visited and presented gifts to 10 village elders, village chiefs, prestigious people, 20 disadvantaged students in Sin Thau Commune and 5 officers and soldiers of A Pa Chai Border Guard Station with difficult circumstances./.
