Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang met with the FAO Organization

On the morning of November 18, on the sidelines of the international workshop "Innovation for sustainable development of the crab industry", Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang had a meeting with Mr. S. Lovatelli Alessandro, a fisheries expert of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss a number of issues related to the development of the crab industry in Ca Mau.

At the meeting, Mr. S.Lovatelli Alessandro said: Vietnam is a country with strengths in fisheries; including the crab industry, so FAO wants to cooperate to develop this field. FAO is interested in many fisheries and even the livelihoods of the people, aiming at cooperation for mutual benefit. To implement the cooperation program related to the crab industry in Ca Mau province, FAO needs support and facilitation from the Vietnamese Government.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang said he was very impressed with the presentation of Mr. S.Lovatelli Alessandro at the workshop, especially the toolkit for assessing crab standards in many aspects. This is a very necessary issue for Ca Mau province to build a brand of Ca Mau crab that meets international standards.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang hopes that the FAO and Can Tho University will coordinate to conduct a survey and support Ca Mau province in building a toolkit to assess crab standards to develop and enhance the value of this industry. The province will actively coordinate with the FAO to implement this idea.
