
In his commemorative speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, President of the University of Transport, affirmed that over the past 80 years of establishment and development, the school has continuously expanded and diversified in scale, types and methods, and implemented many advanced and high-quality programs. The school has focused on developing new majors suitable for the digital transformation trend and industry 4.0 such as intelligent transportation systems, modern railways, and advanced material technology.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that over the past 80 years, from this school, tens of thousands of engineers, scientists , experts, and managers have created vital projects for the country.
Regarding training and scientific research, the school has trained more than 150,000 engineers, bachelors, 15,000 masters and hundreds of doctors for the country; formed a team of nearly 900 staff and lecturers, of which more than 50% have doctoral degrees.

Entering a new stage of development, facing many new opportunities and challenges, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the University of Transport to be among the top 250-300 universities in Asia in the next 5 years. This is not only a ranking criterion, but also a commitment to the quality, class and international vision of the school.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested to strengthen innovation in training programs, integrate advanced content on digital technology , artificial intelligence, big data into core majors such as smart transportation, green logistics. He ordered that by 2030, the school needs to achieve at least 50% of training programs meeting international standards, focusing on training high-quality engineers, meeting human resource needs for national projects such as the North-South Expressway Phase 2 and the urban railway system, high-speed railway, etc.
Another task emphasized by the Deputy Prime Minister is that the school builds a team of lecturers, especially the young generation, strengthens doctoral training, supports student startups, builds a creative school culture, and connects with the community...
As the governing body, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son assessed that the school's core field of operation (transportation sector) is facing breakthrough requirements in decoding and mastering strategic technologies of the country and the industry; especially big problems to promote the rapid and sustainable development of the transportation sector such as: modern railways, high-speed railways on the North - South axis; the need to search and develop new sources of materials and new energy for the national transportation industry, and reduce carbon emissions.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son hopes that the school will continue to promote the formation of an innovative ecosystem in the school, contributing to creating a pillar of science and technology to promote breakthrough development of national transportation and infrastructure.
At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the school; Minister Nguyen Kim Son awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to two individuals: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, Chairman of the School Council and Dr. Luong Xuan Chieu, Director of the Center for Science and Technology.
