Mr. Toan's initiative

Today, November 17, the Education sector organized the 8th Patriotic Emulation Congress. 60 teachers with outstanding achievements in management and teaching, representing 1.6 million teachers nationwide, attended the congress.

One of them is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, a teacher at My Chau Primary School in Gia Lai province. He shared that since he was a child, he dreamed of becoming a teacher. He loves standing on the podium, listening to the laughter and the babbling of children studying. His two older brothers chose the police profession, while he chose the teaching profession.

With 21 years of dedication to his profession, even though there were times when his salary was not enough to live on, Mr. Toan is always proud of having made the right choice. Throughout his journey, Mr. Toan has always sought new methods to implement effective lessons in class, especially when implementing the 2018 general education program.

At the meeting with 60 outstanding teachers and educational administrators nationwide on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged that these are teachers with many outstanding achievements in the education and training career; are the core elements spreading good values ​​to students; are truly shining examples of morality, self-study and creativity, dedication and devotion to the cause of educating people.

As a homeroom teacher from the 2019-2020 school year up to now, he has always upheld a sense of responsibility in his work, constantly researching, creating, innovating and applying active teaching methods in class, especially applying information technology, using software to support the preparation of electronic lectures for lectures, illustrating topics...

Talking to reporters, Mr. Toan said that during the teaching process, he had many initiatives that brought positive results. For example, the initiative "Creatively applying some games in the warm-up activities in teaching Geography for grade 5" in the 2019-2020 school year (won A prize at the district level). In the 2020-2021 school year, he had another initiative "Integrating Cultural Heritage in teaching Vietnamese Geography in grade 5, contributing to improving the quality of subject education". When applying this initiative in teaching practice, the lesson took place smoothly, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, contributing to stimulating the learning spirit of students in all other subjects.

In the 2022 - 2023 school year, Mr. Toan has the initiative to "Organize kick-off activities in teaching History for grade 5 in the direction of developing students' abilities and qualities". Thereby, helping students absorb the lesson content well, love the subject...

Thanks to the initiatives of teacher Nguyen Ngoc Toan, the overall quality of education at the school has improved significantly. 100% of the students in his homeroom class have completed the Primary School program every year, with 62% or more being assessed as having excellently completed their study and training tasks, exceeding the set targets. In competitions organized by the school, district, and province levels, the students have won many high prizes.

Dedicated to the career of educating people

Teacher Tran Thi Tuong Giao, Principal of Truc Xanh Kindergarten, Rach Dua Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, shared that being born and raised in a family with a tradition of teaching, each story of her mother and father planted in her heart the seeds of kindness and a strong will to succeed. From that roof, the flame of teaching was kindled in her, enduring throughout the past journey.

Ms. Giao started her career in 1991 and has currently worked at 5 preschools. Each school has its own characteristics in terms of geographical location, physical facilities, and staff. She has carefully researched and has its own development strategy. For example, at Truc Xanh Kindergarten, she invests in modern facilities and equipment, trains the staff in information technology, applies advanced educational methods, innovates and creates in organizing educational activities; lets children get acquainted with English, develops skills and qualities from the early years. Thanks to that, the school has overcome difficulties, improved quality, and developed in line with social trends.

“34 years has been a difficult journey but full of joy and happiness. Every smile, every sparkling eye of a child is a priceless reward, a great motivation for me to always strive. If I could choose again, I would still choose this profession, a profession that sows seeds of the soul,” said Ms. Giao. With the journey she has gone through, teacher Tran Thi Tuong Giao was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the President. This is a noble reward, a source of pride, a strong motivation for her to continue to contribute, spreading her love for the profession to the teaching staff.

After 20 years of working in the profession, Ms. Nguyen Thu Quyen, a History teacher at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Phong), has trained 168 students to win provincial and national History awards, and 9 scientific and technical research topics and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) to win provincial and national awards. According to Ms. Quyen, the biggest difficulty for female teachers is the pressure of time, responsibility and the journey of continuous self-study. However, it is her belief in her students and her love for the profession that has helped her move forward - so that each lesson is a fire and each student is a light that is lit.

From her teaching experience, Ms. Quyen proposed to build a grassroots education initiative fund, support teachers in implementing innovative teaching models, STEM and digital transformation, and invest heavily in training teachers' digital capacity and research skills, so that teachers can truly master technology in teaching. Ms. Quyen believes that education is not just about sowing letters, but also about sowing faith and character. Each student today, if nurtured with knowledge and love, will become a kind, creative and responsible citizen for Vietnam tomorrow.
