Coordinate and support Son La province to improve the quality of operations of small and medium enterprises

On the afternoon of October 16, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province worked with the delegation of Son La province on coordination and support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), led by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province. Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province; representatives of leaders of provincial departments and branches; the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion; and the Provincial Business Association worked with the delegation.

Overview of the working session.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee, said: Son La province currently has more than 3,662 enterprises, with a total registered capital of VND 77,080 billion. The business community of Son La province currently contributes about 35% of GRDP and more than 60% of the province's domestic budget revenue. Although it has achieved remarkable development in recent years; but the scale of Son La enterprises is currently up to 97% small and micro enterprises, low production and business capital, high production costs, and limited product quality. The proportion of enterprises in industry groups is still unbalanced, mainly operating in the fields of construction and services; at the same time, there are still limitations in management capacity, digital transformation, not many enterprises with deep processing capacity have appeared, and there are not many branded products on the market.

From the above limitations, Son La province hopes that the leaders of Thanh Hoa province and specialized departments, branches and sectors will exchange experiences, advise and support Son La province in building and implementing policies and mechanisms to support investment attraction, enterprise and cooperative development; experience and procedures for implementing industrial cluster development procedures; building linkage chains to connect production, consumption, and promote the export of goods, especially advantageous agricultural products.

The leaders of Son La province also proposed Thanh Hoa province to create conditions for Son La enterprises to connect and access the large consumer market in Thanh Hoa province; as well as coordinate with Thanh Hoa enterprises to develop production chains, deep processing, enhance promotion, and aim for export to increase the value of goods.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi spoke at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee gave an overview of the development scale of Thanh Hoa enterprises; the contribution of the business community to the socio-economic development indicators of Thanh Hoa province; the policies that Thanh Hoa province is implementing to support small and medium enterprises such as capital, institutions, administrative reforms, the implementation of support activities, digital transformation, etc.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Thanh Hoa province always identifies enterprises as the foundation and driving force of the economy; therefore, the Thanh Hoa provincial government always accompanies, leads, and creates all favorable conditions for enterprise development.

In particular, the provincial leaders pay special attention to and issue mechanisms to support small and medium-sized enterprises on the path to maturity and development into large enterprises and successful entrepreneurs. Thanh Hoa provincial leaders also always direct sectors to formulate policies, create legal corridors, and take action to remove difficulties in accessing production resources such as capital, land, build start-up funds, and develop business development projects...

In particular, Thanh Hoa province has issued Resolution No. 214/NQ-HDND on policies to support business development in Thanh Hoa province in the period of 2022-2026; at the same time, it has allocated a significant amount of funding to support innovative start-up businesses; support small and medium enterprises to improve their management capacity, digital transformation and technology application in production. Thanh Hoa also builds investment promotion programs to many potential countries, creating opportunities for businesses in the province to access technology, expand consumer markets and improve competitiveness.

At the conference, representatives of departments, branches and enterprises of Thanh Hoa and Son La provinces also exchanged experiences in developing industrial clusters; implementing policies to support small and medium enterprises; establishing and organizing activities, enhancing the role of associations and industries; experience and effectiveness in implementing investment connection and trade promotion programs; management of agricultural and forestry land...

Representative of the leader of the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion of Son La province spoke at the meeting.

Representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa province discussed experiences in developing industrial clusters.

The leaders of the two provinces and departments and branches also discussed and agreed with the proposal of the leaders of Son La province to organize a program to display and introduce products of Son La province in Thanh Hoa in the fourth quarter of 2024. Accordingly, the program will include an investment connection conference and booths to introduce industrial products, handicrafts, OCOP products, tours, organize cultural, artistic and culinary programs... The leaders of the two provinces also assigned tasks to relevant departments, branches and units to promote related work contents to organize the program.
