Disaster prevention, building a sustainable future

On May 13, in Lao Cai, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, the Department of Education and Training of Bat Xat district and Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company organized the Final round of the Golden Bell contest "With you to prevent and combat natural disasters - Building a sustainable future" at Bat Xat Town Secondary School, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province.

The contest not only aims to propagate and disseminate knowledge about natural disaster prevention and control, but also to raise awareness and skills in responding to natural disasters, focusing on children and adolescents in schools about natural disaster prevention and control, creating a useful and healthy playground, enhancing solidarity, promoting awareness of learning knowledge and skills about natural disaster prevention and control for students; creating attention from authorities at all levels and schools for natural disaster prevention and control.

The scope of the contest and participants are students from grades 6 to 9 in the province from three schools: Bat Xat town middle school, Bat Xat district boarding school for ethnic minorities - middle school and high school and Quang Kim middle school.

Speaking at the Final Round of the Golden Bell Contest, Mr. Nguyen Van Tien - Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said: Natural disaster prevention and control requires the attention and close direction of all levels and sectors and the cooperation and contribution of the whole society. The task of raising awareness of natural disaster risks for people, including students - the future owners of the country, is very necessary and must be carried out regularly and continuously to contribute to the goal of "For a safe society against natural disasters".

Continuing the success of the past 3 years, the Golden Bell contest “Together with children to prevent and combat natural disasters” has contributed to promoting information and communication work, raising awareness of natural disaster prevention and combat for children, the community and the whole society; mobilizing the participation of the whole society, businesses, international and non- governmental organizations to join hands to build a safer living environment against natural disasters.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize and 1 Silver Prize to students in Bat Xat town.
