Phu Thien: Striving to reduce 2% of poor member households | Gia Lai Electronic Newspaper

(GLO)- On June 27, the Farmers' Association of Phu Thien district ( Gia Lai province) held the 4th Congress of Delegates, term 2023-2028.

Attending the Congress were Ms. Chu Thi Thu Huong - Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association; Mr. Vu Hong Duy - Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee; representatives of agencies, departments, and unions of the district, along with 109 delegates representing 8,765 members of the district.

In the 2018-2023 term, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the district have made breakthroughs in many fields, with key tasks and annual emulation targets basically completed and exceeded the set targets. The Associations at all levels have admitted 3,044 members, bringing the total number of members to 8,765. Every year, 2,419/5,259 member households register to achieve the title of excellent production and business at all levels. The whole district has established 10 professional associations with 325 members and 53 professional association groups with 782 members.

The Associations at all levels have proactively built and developed the Farmers' Support Fund at all levels with over 3.6 billion VND, supporting the construction of 55 projects, 89 households borrowing for economic development. Coordinated with the Transaction Office of the District Social Policy Bank to lend capital to members through 56 groups with 2,585 households borrowing, with a total outstanding debt of over 110 billion VND. The Farmers' Associations of communes and towns coordinated with related units to organize consultations and open 31 vocational training classes for 1,250 farmer members. Thereby, 985 members have regular jobs. Organized 150 training sessions on transferring science and technology, seminars on planting and caring techniques for crops and livestock for 5,859 members; organized 4 sessions for members to visit and learn from the experiences of economic models inside and outside the district with 101 members participating.

The District Farmers' Association always proactively coordinates with departments, branches, district and provincial unions, and enterprises to create conditions for cadres and members to participate in forums, trade promotion conferences, markets, and typical agricultural product competitions organized by the Central, province, and district; coordinates with the District Post Office to successfully organize conferences to bring agricultural products to e-commerce platforms. The Standing Committee of the District Farmers' Association has directed the Farmers' Associations of communes and towns to build a Goat Bank model, giving 7 breeding goats to poor members; and build over 2,500 friendly vegetable gardens to improve family life.

In the 2023-2028 term, the District Farmers' Association strives to complete 18 targets: Annually, admit 500 new members; 100% of the Association's bases complete and complete their tasks well; 100% of the Association's bases have an Association fund, with an average annual balance of 10 million VND or more; 100% of the branches have a fund, with an average of 50,000 VND/member/year. Annually, 60% or more of the member households register and 50% or more of the registered households achieve the title of good farmers and businessmen at all levels; mobilize members to participate in cooperatives, coordinate to advise, guide, and support the establishment of 1 new cooperative, 3 or more cooperative groups operating effectively each year; annually help reduce 2% of the number of poor farmer member households to escape poverty and reduce 3% of the number of poor farmer member households in ethnic minorities to escape poverty...

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the District Farmers' Association, term IV, 2023-2028, consisting of 21 comrades (2 comrades were absent). At the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the District Farmers' Association, term IV, elected Ms. Nguyen Thi Dam to continue holding the position of Vice President of the District Farmers' Association (vacant position of President of the Association). The Congress also elected a delegation of 11 official delegates and 2 alternate delegates to attend the Congress at a higher level.

On this occasion, the Executive Committee of Phu Thien District Party Committee presented a banner with the content "unity-democracy-creativity-integration-development" to the District Farmers' Association; the Chairman of the District People's Committee presented certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 9 individuals; the Executive Committee of the District Farmers' Association presented certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 19 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work for the 2018-2023 term.
