Phuc Huynh defeated Ly Hoang Nam to win the PPA Tour pickleball championship for the first time.

(NLDO) - Ly Hoang Nam lost quickly to Phuc Huynh in two sets and missed the chance to win the championship in the first Pro pickleball men's singles final at the PPA Tour.

At noon on September 7, in the final match of the men's singles of the Pro PPA Vietnam Tournament - the final leg of the PPA Tour Asia (PPA Asia Pickleball Tournament - MB Vietnam Open 2025), Ly Hoang Nam had an exciting start with a series of 4 consecutive points, quickly taking a 4-0 lead against the Japanese PPA runner-up, Phuc Huynh.

However, consecutive errors made him let Phuc Huynh regain the serve, shortening the score to 1-4 and then equalizing 4-4. In the tense match, Hoang Nam continued to make mistakes when hitting the ball out, leading 4-7 and forced to ask for a time-out to adjust the tempo.

Ly Hoang Nam had a good start but could not win his first championship.

Despite coming back with high determination, he still let his opponent widen the gap to 8-4. Nam's efforts only helped shorten the score to 5-8, then 5-9 and saved a match point but it was not enough to help him turn the situation around, having to accept defeat 5-11 in the first set.

In set 2, Phuc Huynh played with great excitement, scoring 5 points in a row to lead 5-0. Trailing 1-6, Ly Hoang Nam continued to time out but could not turn the situation around, continuously falling behind in points.

With 5 consecutive points, Phuc Huynh closed the set with an overwhelming score of 11-1, thereby winning the championship after two quick wins.

Thus, Phuc Huynh - the runner-up at PPA Japan, successfully changed the color of his medal and won the PPA Tour Asia for the first time. Meanwhile, Ly Hoang Nam, who was in the finals for the first time, could only change the color of his bronze medal to silver.

In addition, this championship is also extremely meaningful to Phuc Huynh when he defeated two men's singles champions in the previous rounds, Jack Wong in the quarterfinals and Linh Giang in the semi-finals.

PPA Tour Asia took place in 4 stages and the champions were Trinh Linh Giang (in Malaysia), Jack Wong (Hong Kong - China), Connor Garnett (Japan) and Phuc Huynh (Vietnam).
