Regularly on weekends, Ms. Dieu Thi Xieng - Meritorious Artisan of Nghia Lo ward, spends time instructing students in brocade weaving class in each stage to preserve the unique cultural features of the Thai people in Muong Lo area.
Mrs. Xieng shared: “I not only teach my children how to weave and sew brocade dresses, but also collect and pass on the dances, xoè dances, and diep dances of my people. To me, Thai women must know how to preserve and wear traditional costumes - that is beauty, pride and also a way to spread national culture, not to be lost over time.”

Not only Mrs. Xieng’s class, the ward also maintains many other traditional vocational training models. Nghia Lo Ward focuses on developing brocade weaving, traditional costume sewing, and traditional musical instrument making to create jobs and prevent traditional occupations from being lost.
Every year, artisans are supported to open vocational training classes, participate in competitions and display products at cultural events inside and outside the province.
Ms. Lo Thi Van, Deu 2 village, shared: “Each woven piece of cloth is a story about the culture and identity of the people. I am happy that the traditional craft is of interest to tourists , and the products are bought as gifts. Thanks to that, the old craft is not lost but also brings income to the local people.”
In order to preserve and spread the traditional culture of the nation, Nghia Lo ward also established folk culture and art clubs in villages, hamlets and residential groups. Each club maintains regular activities, both performing for tourists and teaching the younger generation.
We identify that cultural preservation is not only about preserving but also promoting in modern life to spread more widely. Thereby promoting the land and local people rich in cultural identity to a large number of people and tourists from near and far.
Along with preserving the traditional culture of the Thai ethnic group, Nghia Lo ward has issued many policies to encourage people to preserve traditional stilt house architecture, organize ancient Thai language classes...

Besides, good customs and practices such as Xen Dong festival, Cau Mua festival, brocade weaving, cooking five-color sticky rice, making black banh chung... are still maintained regularly.
Many activities have been restored within the framework of the annual Muong Lo Cultural - Tourism Festival, attracting tens of thousands of tourists from within and outside the province.
Mr. Luong Thach Chuong, owner of the homestay Cuong Chinh, Deu 2 village, shared: "Tourists come to the locality not only to sightsee, but also to experience the life of the Thai people. Therefore, we keep the traditional house, dress, cooking and living style as before. That is the best way to preserve identity."

One of the highlights in the cultural preservation work in Nghia Lo ward is the harmonious combination of education , culture and tourism. Many schools in the area have included Thai Xoe art in extracurricular activities to build friendly schools, happy schools.

Not only in schools, cultural preservation activities in the community are also integrated with the movement to build a grassroots cultural life. Villages, hamlets, and residential groups all have conventions and village rules associated with preserving national identity; each person is considered an active factor in preserving traditional lifestyles, costumes, languages, and customs.

In addition, artists, artisans, and young people are breathing new life into ethnic culture by combining traditional and modern art through clips and music videos promoting Thai xoe - a unique cultural feature of ethnic minorities and introducing local landscapes on social networking platforms, attracting hundreds of thousands of views.

Mr. Dinh Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Nghia Lo Ward People's Committee added: "We identify that preserving culture is the origin, the soul of the nation and the foundation for future development. Each traditional cultural value that is preserved and spread is the basis for the locality to develop sustainably, creating a unique highlight in exploiting the potential and strengths of the region."
