On the afternoon of April 7, PVI Insurance Corporation (PVI) issued a press release regarding the Bell-505 helicopter crash in Ha Long. The unit said that the PVI - Bao Viet - MIC Insurance consortium is the insurance service provider for the aircraft of Vietnam Helicopter Corporation and PVI Insurance is the original insurer, leading the consortium.
"The insurance program includes aircraft hull insurance, the airline's liability insurance for passengers and third parties, and accident insurance for pilots," PVI said.
Authorities search for victims of the Bell-505 helicopter crash on the afternoon of April 5.
Also according to PVI, the unit was present at the scene, coordinating with VNH (Vietnam Helicopter Company) and relevant authorities to resolve insurance-related issues.
Previously, on the afternoon of April 5, Bell-505 aircraft with registration number VN-8650 took off from Tuan Chau Island, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, and had an accident, killing 4 passengers and 1 pilot.
A Ha Long Bay sightseeing helicopter tour operator said it has committed to pay up to $30 million in compensation for each incident. This compensation covers up to four passengers, not including the pilot.
Regarding this issue, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision ( Ministry of Finance ) has issued a document requesting a report on the damage and insurance compensation situation. In particular, the management agency requested PVI to promptly assess the extent of damage, determine the scope of insurance compensation and carry out procedures for settling advance compensation and insurance compensation quickly, promptly and fully for insurance participants.
The management agency also requested that after assessing the extent of damage and loss, PVI must report back to the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision before April 10.
