Marinka is the last stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this densely populated area. The loss of this stronghold could have a major impact on Ukraine's strategy and tactics.
For Russian forces, the control of Marinka was also of great importance. The Maryinka operation became a landmark operation because it demonstrated the ability to conduct prolonged and intense combat operations and successfully overcome Ukrainian defenses.
Russian troops captured the stronghold of Marinka.
Earlier, on the evening of December 24, Russian military sources confirmed that Russian troops had advanced south of Artyomovsk. After Russian forces completed operations in the southern outskirts of the city, they continued their offensive towards Ivanovskoe. As a result of the recent attacks, Russian forces took control of a small airport near the road from Artyomovsk.
According to reports from the front, the Ukrainian defenses in the area included nine strongholds linked by trench networks, and each Ukrainian stronghold held off Russian assault groups from 40 minutes to two days of attacks.
Public images of a Ukrainian position in the area of the airport show that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have suffered heavy losses in the ongoing battles. For their part, Russian military sources claim that the Russian military has suffered minimal losses in the offensive there.
Recent reports from the Artyomovsk region say that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun withdrawing forces from the Bogdanovka area on the western flank in an effort to strengthen defenses along the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal in Chasov Yar. New reports add that some forces from Bogdanovka may have been sent to Ivanovskoe to support the defense group there, while Russian troops are already a few hundred meters from the outskirts of the town.
On many other fronts, the war situation remains tense.
