At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his deep gratitude for the sentiments of the Lao Party, State and people for Vietnam upon the passing of formerPresident Tran Duc Luong.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the two sides' effective coordination in implementing many important bilateral foreign affairs activities, maintaining high-level contacts and exchanges; affirming that Vietnam consistently attaches importance to the special relationship with Laos, and wishes to further deepen the relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples.
Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane thanked the Party, State and People of Vietnam for providing Laos with valuable material and spiritual support; affirmed that Laos is always ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Vietnam, in accordance with the spirit of the great relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The two Foreign Ministers expressed their delight that the Vietnam-Laos cooperation continues to develop strongly, effectively, and in depth in all areas of politics, security-defense, and economy.
The two sides agreed to urge relevant ministries and sectors to develop mechanisms and policies to encourage and promote bilateral trade, promote connectivity between the two economies, especially in transportation and infrastructure, and actively implement key projects, opening a new phase of cooperation.
The two Ministers highly appreciated the cooperation and close coordination between the two Foreign Ministries in recent times on the basis of the Cooperation Agreement for the 2021-2025 period; agreed to coordinate in reviewing and developing the Cooperation Agreement for the next period.
The two sides agreed to promote exchanges, strategic research and regular communication between key units of the two ministries; strengthen propaganda and education about the tradition of special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, especially for the young diplomatic generation of the two countries.
