This is the first year of the 10th grade entrance exam after the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong , and Ba Ria Vung Tau, with a very large number of candidates. Specifically, the sample exam papers for the three subjects, Literature, Mathematics, and English, are as follows:

Literature

For the Literature subject, the exam is designed to integrate the assessment of reading comprehension and writing skills, with the content in the writing section related to the texts in the reading comprehension section.

The structure of the 10th grade Vietnamese language exam consists of two parts:

Part 1 (5 points): Reading comprehension of literary texts and writing a paragraph

Question 1 (3 points): Reading Comprehension

Question 2 (2 points): Write a paragraph

Part 2 (5 points): Reading comprehension of argumentative or informational texts and writing a social commentary essay.

Question 1 (1 point): Reading Comprehension

Question 2 (4 points): Write a social commentary essay.

The assessment is based on the required reading comprehension and writing skills outlined in the 2018 General Education Program for Literature at the lower secondary level, primarily for grades 8 and 9.

Mathematics

The Mathematics exam content is based on the 2018 General Education Program for lower secondary school mathematics, encompassing the following knowledge areas: Geometry and measurement; numbers and algebra; statistics and probability. The exam aims to assess mathematical abilities such as mathematical thinking and reasoning, mathematical problem-solving, and mathematical modeling.

The structure of the 10th grade math exam consists of 7 questions:

Exercise 1. (1.5 points) Given the function y = ax2

a) Draw the graph (P) of the above function.

b) Find the points on (P) that satisfy the given condition.

Exercise 2. (1 point) Given the quadratic equation ax2 + bx + c = 0

a) Find the conditions under which the equation has solutions.

b) Using Vieta's formulas, calculate the value of the expression related to the roots.

Exercise 3. (1.5 points) Practical math problems related to probability and statistics.

Exercise 4. (1 point)

a) Write an expression A that represents a certain quantity x in the real-world problem.

b) Find the value of x for which A satisfies a certain condition.

Lesson 5. (1 point) Practical math problems related to geometry:

Perimeter, area of triangles and quadrilates; arc length, circumference of a circle; area of a circle, sector, segment, annulus... Surface area, total surface area, volume of geometric shapes in real life...

Lesson 6. (1 point) Practical math problems involving equations, inequalities, and systems of linear equations with two variables.

Lesson 7. (3 points) Plane geometry problem consisting of 3 questions

a) Prove that the four points lie on a circle, and that the elements are parallel, perpendicular, equal, etc.

b) Prove the relationships, the elements are equal, collinear, concurrent, etc.

c) Calculate length, perimeter, area, angle measure, etc.

English subject

The English subject focuses on assessing specific language skills, with specific goals for each knowledge area.

The structure of the 10th grade English exam consists of 4 sections with 40 questions.

Part 1 (1 point): Phonetics, from sentence 1 to sentence 4

Part 2 (3 points): Vocabulary, grammar, communication, questions 5 to 16

Part 3 (4 points): Write the correct form of the word, from sentence 29 to sentence 34; Write the appropriate phrase based on the given information, sentences 35, 36; Write sentences, from sentence 37 to sentence 40.

Part 4 (3 points): Reading Comprehension: Read and fill in the blanks, questions 17 to 22; Read and answer questions, questions 23 to 28.

Note that there are two new questions about writing appropriate phrases based on given information. These questions test your ability to read dictionary annotations to find linguistic information and apply your knowledge.
