On September 18, the Military Region 7 Command held a conference to review Directive 169 dated December 29, 2020 of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee on strengthening leadership and direction of policy work for the army and the army's rear; reviewing the implementation of the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in the period 2021 - 2025.
Over the past 5 years of implementing Directive 169, the Party Committee and the Military Region 7 Command have led and directed its extensive implementation, strictly and seriously implemented it in all aspects, ensuring compliance with the prescribed standards and regimes. Agencies and units have focused on paying salaries, allowances, and subsidies to active and retired forces in accordance with financial principles; promptly implementing rewards, salary and rank increases; and paying attention to the regime for officers and soldiers at the border, islands, and internationally.
Every year, Military Region 7 organizes meetings and presents gifts to over 50,000 retired cadres (over 50 billion VND) and visits and presents gifts to over 28,000 policy beneficiaries (nearly 130 billion VND). Over 14,600 cadres are granted retirement allowances, 2,191 cases are resolved to recuperate at home (over 50 billion VND); quarterly allowances for retired cadres with serious illnesses are fully guaranteed.
Military Region 7 has implemented strict policies, supported the construction of more than 4,400 houses for comrades, eliminated over 400 temporary houses, regularly visited families in difficulty, and helped improve the material and spiritual life of soldiers and the rear.
Military Region 7 effectively deploys the work of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains.
In addition, the work of searching and collecting martyrs' remains was effectively implemented, the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 and provinces and cities was regularly strengthened and supplemented in a timely manner. Units closely followed the direction of the National Steering Committee 515, grasped the situation, adjusted the time and area of operation in Cambodia for Team K (searching and collecting martyrs' remains) to suit the reality; proactively supplemented forces, means, and equipment to serve the survey, search, and collection of martyrs' remains.
On June 27, officers and soldiers of Team K73 brought 106 martyrs' remains to the Martyrs' Cemetery of Tan Hung - Vinh Hung district ( Long An province, now Tay Ninh province).

Military Region 7 has distributed more than 2.4 million forms to collect information on martyrs and martyrs' graves; 10/10 provinces and cities (before the merger) have completed the conclusion of the area and created search maps at all three levels. Steering Committee 515 at all levels has coordinated with functional agencies, political organizations, domestic Veterans Associations and foreign veterans to verify information, propose working plans with organizations and veterans who fought in Vietnam to determine burial locations, especially mass graves.
As a result, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the work of searching, collecting martyrs' remains and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information was actively implemented, meeting the wishes of martyrs' relatives with more than 2,600 martyrs' remains (of which more than 2,000 martyrs' remains are in Cambodia and more than 480 martyrs' remains are in the country). This work contributes to stabilizing the socio-political situation in the area and strengthening people's trust in the Party and State's guidelines, policies and strategies towards the army and the army's rear.
At the conference, Major General Tran Chi Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 requested that in the coming time, when Military Region 7 merges into 4 provinces (Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh), it is necessary to continue to thoroughly grasp the policies and guidelines of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense on policy work for the army and the army's rear. Party committees, commanders, and policy officers at all levels proactively develop solutions to implement Directive 169 in conjunction with political tasks, mass mobilization work, and building political bases in each locality, while focusing on resolving policy backlogs after the wars.

Major General Tran Chi Tam emphasized that the work of searching, gathering, and identifying martyrs' remains is a sacred political task. It is necessary to step up propaganda, promote combined strength, and closely coordinate with Steering Committee 515 and the Veterans Association to improve implementation efficiency.
At the conference, 22 collectives and 38 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by Military Region 7 for their outstanding achievements in policy work for the army and the army's rear; searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in the 2021-2025 period.
