Arriving at the livestock area of Regiment 5 (Division 5, Military Region 7) early in the morning, we clearly felt the urgent and scientific working atmosphere of the unit's officers and soldiers. The barn system is planned neatly and cleanly, the chickens are cared for according to a closed process, ensuring hygiene and disease safety.

Thanks to the close guidance of the Regiment commander, along with the sense of responsibility of the soldiers, the chickens developed well, with stable egg production. From the initial success, we boldly expanded the current scale to more than 1,400 laying hens, averaging more than 1,100 eggs per day.”

| Major General Huynh Tan Hung, Deputy Director of the General Department of Logistics and Technology, and the working delegation visited the egg-laying chicken farming model at Regiment 5. |
Previously, the source of eggs for the soldiers' meals had to be mainly purchased from the market, with high costs and unstable quality. Now, thanks to proactive self-production, the unit not only ensures 100% of the clean egg demand for the kitchen but also creates additional revenue to increase production funds. Each month, the Regiment earns nearly ten million VND in profit, which is reinvested in livestock, farming, improving the living environment and landscape of the barracks.
Lieutenant Colonel Le Cong Danh, Commander of Regiment 5, said: “We identify the work of increasing production as a regular political task, contributing directly to improving the quality of life of soldiers, especially in the context of fluctuating market prices. The model of raising egg-laying chickens not only brings economic efficiency but also trains officers and soldiers in labor awareness, thrift, solidarity and attachment to the unit.”
Besides the economic value, the model has profound educational significance. Many young soldiers, who are exposed to animal husbandry for the first time, quickly mastered the techniques and grasped the process of caring for and preventing diseases for chickens. Organizing labor scientifically, punctually, and following the correct process also contributes to training military style, discipline, and internal solidarity.
Not stopping there, the Regiment's logistics and engineering sector actively coordinated with the specialized agencies of Division 5 and Tay Ninh province to organize training on biosafety livestock farming techniques, guide the hatching process, waste treatment, and utilize by-products as fertilizer for vegetables. Thanks to that, the model was maintained stably, ensuring disease safety and being environmentally friendly.
Currently, the egg-laying chicken raising model of Regiment 5 has become a bright spot in the emulation movement "The Army logistics sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings" of Division 5. Many other units have come to visit, learn and replicate the model. From that success, the Regiment is continuing to research and develop more models of raising square-head tilapia and growing hydroponic vegetables, ensuring 100% self-sufficiency in fresh food sources in the coming time.
With many proactive and creative measures, the egg-laying chicken raising model at Regiment 5 is not only an effective measure to increase production but also vividly demonstrates the spirit of self-reliance, self-reliance and creativity of officers and soldiers in performing their duties. The small eggs today are the "sweet fruit" from the hands, minds and spirit of overcoming difficulties of officers and soldiers.
