Michelin Guide has recently announced the list of dining establishments honored in 2025 in three cities: Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. In the Michelin Selected category (restaurants/eateries recommended by Michelin Guide), Number One chicken sticky rice restaurant on Nguyen Trung Truc Street (District 1), Thuy 94 old crab noodle restaurant on Dinh Tien Hoang Street (District 1), Bep Nguoi Hoi An restaurant on Tran Quoc Toan Street (District 3)... continue to be on this list.
Is the motivation to continue striving
Talking to Thanh Nien , Mr. Nguyen Hieu Trung (43 years old), manager of the Number One chicken sticky rice restaurant, said that he was excited and happy to be recommended by Michelin once again. He considered this as a motivation to continue striving to bring absolute trust to not only domestic customers but also international tourists. Mr. Trung is the son of Ms. Le Thi Thinh (68 years old), owner of this famous traditional sticky rice restaurant near Ben Thanh market.
He learned this information from his younger brother, and the whole family was surprised because Michelin continued to recommend him. His business was busy, so he received the joy in surprise.

"I hope that after this joy, tourists will know about the sticky rice shop that sells delicious food at reasonable prices, and that customers will not be surprised when they come to eat sticky rice in the Ben Thanh market area. Since Michelin recommended it, the shop's business has improved and it has become more known to customers," Trung shared.

Ms. Truc Mai (51 years old), one of the two owners of the old Thuy 94 crab noodle restaurant, shared that she was happy and touched because the restaurant continued to be on the Michelin recommended list. This is also a clear proof for diners to trust and choose to visit the restaurant to enjoy the dishes.
"I know that the restaurant has just entered the category proposed by Michelin, has not received any stars yet, but it is still a very encouraging result. I run a small restaurant, I do not dare to call it a "restaurant" (retailer) but luckily people still know and recommend it. On the evening of June 5, we also flew to Da Nang to receive this prestigious award," said Ms. Truc Mai.
Mr. Nguyen Han Thien (38 years old), owner of Bep Nguoi Hoi An restaurant, is grateful and feels more joyful because the small restaurant located in the heart of District 3 is lucky enough to be named in the Michelin recommended list for 2 consecutive years.
"When I held the souvenir trophy in my hand, I really felt small among millions of familiar shops in bustling Ho Chi Minh City. This award marks 5 years of growth and another memorable journey for the shop," said Mr. Thien.
Will there be a price increase?
Mr. Hieu Trung said that the price of sticky rice dishes will remain the same and will not change in the near future. For the past 2 years, the restaurant has kept the price from 30,000 VND - 40,000 VND so that both domestic and foreign customers can easily enjoy it.
"In the coming time, we will try harder so that Number One sticky rice restaurant can bring a wonderful experience, not letting customers regret believing in Michelin's recommendation," said Mr. Trung.
Ms. Truc Mai shared that since January 2025, due to rising prices, the restaurant has been forced to increase the price by 10,000 VND/dish. This adjustment is considered suitable for the current business situation and has been agreed upon by customers, who continue to support it.

"We have been raising prices for about 6 months now, not after winning the Michelin award. The restaurant will use the award as motivation to continue trying, not using reputation to increase prices, making customers unhappy," said Ms. Mai.
Mr. Han Thien said that despite being on the Michelin recommended list for the second time in a row, the restaurant still maintains its original business philosophy: trying to cook delicious food with real value, not chasing after titles.

"I don't want to increase prices because of the title. The prices will remain the same whether Michelin recommends them or not. The price increase (if any) is due to the inflation of the economy when the rent increases every year, the cost of input materials increases, or new tax policies... No one in our restaurant wants to increase prices unless forced to. Every time I increase prices, I think carefully because I want to keep the restaurant a friendly place with reasonable, affordable prices," Mr. Thien confided.
