The People's Committee of Quang Nam province has just sent the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consult and submit to the Government for approval the project "Preserving and promoting the value of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An ancient town until 2030, with a vision to 2035".
The total estimated cost of this project is 1,670 billion VND. Of which, the central government, Quang Nam and Hoi An City will contribute 1,470 billion VND, and the remaining 200 billion VND will be ODA funding.
Quang Nam orients Hoi An to become an ecological - cultural - tourist city, aiming to establish a driving role in tourism - service development of the central coastal region and the whole country, reaching out to Asia, becoming an attractive destination of the world .

To achieve the above goal, Quang Nam will restore and embellish all ranked but currently degraded relics; upgrade museums, theaters, rest stops, libraries, and traditional galleries. Valuable intangible cultural heritages and documentary heritages will be identified, inventoried, managed with scientific records and preserved.
At the same time, complete the spatial planning and expand the protection zone of the old quarter, thereby contributing to creating a balance between conservation and development in the core zone, buffer zone and surrounding areas.
In addition, Hoi An will also invest in phase 2 fire prevention, termite prevention for relics, building embankments to protect the old town, etc.
Hoi An is located in the world cultural heritage triangle of Hue - Hoi An - My Son. The city currently has 1,439 relics, of which the "core area" alone has 1,175 architectural and artistic relics, including civil works, religious works such as communal houses, pagodas, mausoleums, shrines, assembly halls, clan houses and special works.
At the end of 1999, the ancient town of Hoi An was recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage.
To date, Hoi An has 6 heritages listed as national intangible cultural heritages, including Kim Bong carpentry, Thanh Chau bird's nest exploitation, Thanh Ha pottery, Tra Que vegetable growing, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lantern Festival in Hoi An.
Currently, Hoi An is one of the attractive tourist destinations of the country and the world, contributing to promoting the image of the country, people of Vietnam and Quang Nam in the period of integration and development.
Recently, Hoi An was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build a profile to join the "UNESCO Creative Cities Network".
