At noon on November 14, a representative of the Quang Ngai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company informed that the damaged and washed away concrete sections of the western bridge deck of Thach Nham spillway (in Son Ha commune, Quang Ngai province) have basically completed temporary reinforcement, meeting the conditions for temporary traffic organization.

Therefore, the unit removed the prohibition sign, allowing people and vehicles to pass through, and removed the intersection on the route.

However, this is only a temporary solution to ensure traffic flow. The unit recommends that people consider choosing the optimal route and be careful when passing through this area, especially when the river water level rises.
Thach Nham spillway bridge crosses the Tra Khuc River, connecting Tra Giang commune (East bank) with Son Ha commune (West bank). The irrigation project used as a traffic bridge was built more than 30 years ago and is now seriously degraded.

Previously, SGGP Online reported “Quang Ngai: Banning all vehicles from crossing Thach Nham spillway, but many people still defy”. Heavy rains have caused the water level of Tra Khuc River to rise, causing serious damage to a number of traffic works, especially Thach Nham spillway located on provincial road 624B.
Thach Nham spillway is a vital traffic route, serving the travel, agricultural product transportation and daily life needs of the people of Son Ha commune and neighboring areas. The prolonged damage and landslides have caused many difficulties in life and production, affecting traffic safety and rescue work during the rainy and stormy season.
