In the first 6 months of the year, Quang Tri province achieved many remarkable results.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, said that in the first 6 months of 2023, in the context of the international and regional political situation and the domestic socio-economic situation, there continued to be many difficulties and disadvantages, but thoroughly implementing the Government's motto of action "Solidarity, discipline, flexibility, innovation, timeliness and efficiency"; with the attention of the Government, central ministries and branches, Quang Tri province has made efforts to implement the goals and tasks set out for the year and the goals set out in the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.

“The socio -economic situation in the first 6 months of the year of the province has had positive changes: The total product in the area is estimated to increase by 6.52% compared to the same period last year, the social sectors, education and training, health care, social security have many positive and progressive signals. Foreign affairs activities continue to expand, many relationships have become specific, in-depth and effective”, said Vice Chairman of Quang Tri province Hoang Nam.

Mr. Nam also said that in the field of culture, sports and tourism, with the attention and support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and units under the Ministry, Quang Tri province has implemented many key solutions and tasks to develop the culture, sports and tourism industry commensurate with the potential and strengths of the locality. The province has coordinated with the Ministry to successfully organize the Vietnamese Cultural - Culinary Festival with the theme "National Soul - Homeland Taste", contributing to stimulating tourism development after the severe impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic; at the same time, opening up a new direction towards culinary tourism products typical of Quang Tri and the North Central region.

Successfully organized the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam; the 55th anniversary of the Khe Sanh Victory and the liberation of Huong Hoa district. Currently, the province is continuing to review and coordinate with central ministries and branches to organize the 50th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated area of Quang Tri province (September 2023); the 100th anniversary of the birth of General Doan Khue, former member of the Politburo, former Minister of National Defense (October 2023).

The province has built and developed a number of new tourism products.

The Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also said that the work of managing relics and preserving and promoting cultural heritage values has been focused and directed by the province and has achieved many important results. The Provincial People's Committee has completed the submission to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for approval of the planning for the special national relics of Hien Luong - Ben Hai and the special national relic of Dong Ha Military Port; submitted for approval the task of establishing a plan to preserve, restore and promote the values of the special national relics of Vinh Moc tunnels and the Vinh Linh tunnel village system, the national relic of Gio An ancient well, and the national relics of locations related to the Nguyen Lord's palace.

The province has built a scientific dossier on the intangible cultural heritage "Rice pounding song" to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for recognition as a national intangible cultural heritage, a scientific dossier proposing to include "A rieu ping festival of the Ta Oi/Pako people" in the national intangible cultural heritage; Continue to implement project 6 "Preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Directing the effective implementation of programs and plans on physical training and sports development such as implementing the Campaign "All people practice physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho, period 2021-2030"; Overall project on physical training and stature development of Vietnamese people in the period 2016-2030... Mass sports have developed widely among all subjects with many diverse and rich forms. Up to now, the rate of people practicing physical training and sports regularly has reached: 37.2% of the population; the rate of families practicing physical training and sports has reached: 27.9% of the total number of households; the whole province has 855 clubs and sports practice points; there are three sports federations and associations. High-performance sports have been given attention, so there have been good developments.

The work of building grassroots cultural life such as the movement "All people unite to build cultural life" associated with the National Target Program on building new rural areas and civilized urban areas; family work and prevention of domestic violence have achieved many positive results.

The province has also built and developed a number of new tourism products, especially the pilot program to visit the special national relics of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, the flower-releasing dock on Thach Han River, and the national martyrs' cemeteries at night. Piloting the Night Street route every Saturday evening at the provincial Cinema and Cultural Center; developing tourism products in the western region of Quang Tri province...

At the meeting, Quang Tri province proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism support activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vinh Linh's traditional day and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vinh Linh Special Zone; and the Festival for Peace in Quang Tri. Quang Tri has a massive historical relic system with 500 relics, including 4 special national relics, 20 national relics and 476 provincial relics. The province proposed that the Ministry support to promote the value of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots in the province, pay attention to investing in and supporting the construction of an ecological museum model for ethnic minorities...

Deputy Ministers: Ta Quang Dong, Trinh Thi Thuy, Doan Van Viet spoke about promoting the development of culture, sports and tourism in Quang Tri province.

At the meeting, representatives of functional units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Quang Tri province discussed and proposed many solutions to strengthen coordination to develop the fields of culture, sports and tourism in Quang Tri province. The proposals of Quang Tri province have been studied and considered by the functional units of the Ministry, such as in the field of culture, solutions to promote the value of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots in the province. In the field of physical training and sports, Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet said that, implementing the direction of the Ministry's leaders, the Department will coordinate to organize a number of tournaments in Quang Tri province before and after the Festival for Peace, such as the Youth Volleyball Championship for Men and Women; National Individual Badminton Championship.

In the field of tourism, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the agency has recently coordinated with the province to successfully organize the Vietnamese Cultural - Culinary Festival with the theme "National Soul - Taste of Homeland", contributing to stimulating tourism development and the Festival has achieved unexpected success. Director Nguyen Trung Khanh also proposed many solutions to help Quang Tri tourism develop in the coming time.

Promoting the soft power of culture for development

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the coordination between Quang Tri province and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in developing areas under the Ministry's state management. The Minister also said that since the beginning of his term, this is the second time the Minister has worked with the province. In order for the meeting to be effective and practical, the Minister suggested that both sides review the results of the work from the previous meeting, what the results are, and what difficulties need to be resolved. The Minister was also pleased to announce that after the National Cultural Conference, awareness of the role and position of culture at all levels, sectors and localities has been continuously improved. Not only Quang Tri province, many localities across the country have paid more attention and invested in culture, thereby achieving many positive results.

The Minister shared that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is happy and excited to welcome the provincial delegation to discuss solutions to implement the Party's Resolution, contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development plan, ensuring national security and defense of the province in general as well as going deeper into the field of culture, sports and tourism in the province in particular.

The Minister highly appreciated the efforts of Quang Tri province to overcome many difficulties due to the impact of the domestic and international situation, the delay of policies to promote the good qualities of Quang Tri people in the effort to build the homeland and the country. In the past time and especially in the first 6 months of the year, the province's socio-economic situation has developed, achieving many remarkable results, gross domestic product increased, budget revenue reached and exceeded the target; people's lives, national defense and security were ensured...

In the field of culture, sports and tourism, the Minister assessed that the locality has made many efforts, taking advantage of its strengths and resources to contribute to cultural development, promoting the development of tourism to gradually move closer to the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector. The province has also organized many events and festivals that not only meet the cultural enjoyment needs of the people but also help domestic and international friends understand and love the heroic land more.

“Therefore, we need to continue to multiply the strength of culture and by culture to create the strength of this land which is difficult in terms of geo-economics but rich in revolutionary and cultural traditions. If we can do that, the province will certainly complete the set goals,” said Minister Nguyen Van Hung.

The Minister acknowledged that despite many efforts, due to economic conditions and the small scale of the economy, many wishes and aspirations of the province have not been able to become reality. Going deeper into the field of culture, sports and tourism, although the province has organized many events, it has not yet deeply understood the economic issues in culture and culture in economy to be flexible in organizing events, and there are no specific products. Da Nang is famous for its fireworks festival, Hue is famous for its Festival, Quang Binh has Phong Nha, Ke Bang, the Minister asked: So what does Quang Tri have?

From there, the Minister suggested solutions for building cultural tourism products, associated with the characteristics of the province to build a brand, attract tourists. The Minister also said that the province should issue a resolution on cultural development, promote the good qualities of Quang Tri people, and develop Quang Tri province. The Minister noted that Quang Tri should promote the soft power of culture in development, and well implement the 6 tasks and 4 groups of solutions that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong mentioned at the National Cultural Conference.

Regarding the province's proposals, the Minister directed the specialized agencies under the Ministry to study and absorb opinions to coordinate with the province to develop the fields of culture, sports and tourism, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the locality, striving to become a province in the high average group of the country.
