The Huong Phung Primary and Secondary Boarding School project has a total investment of 360 billion VND, built on an area of 10 hectares in Doa Cu village, Huong Phung commune with a scale of 40 classrooms, of which 22 primary classes and 18 secondary classes meet the learning needs of about 1,500 students. The orientation in the next phase is to expand to 2,100 students with 55 classrooms.

The project includes the following items: Classroom block, student dormitory, teacher's office building, dining area, kitchen, multi-purpose house, sports field and synchronous technical infrastructure, all newly invested and built.
The groundbreaking ceremony for Huong Phung Primary and Secondary Boarding School is part of the policy to build 248 inter-level boarding schools in border communes according to the conclusion of the Politburo . The project is expected to be completed before August 30, 2026, in time for the new school year 2026-2027.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang affirmed that the construction of Huong Phung Primary and Secondary Boarding School is a major policy, with profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party and State to children of ethnic minorities, mountainous areas, remote and border areas. Each school built in the border area not only has the meaning of teaching literacy and vocational training but also is a stronghold of knowledge, faith and love for the Fatherland.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 30 gifts to disadvantaged households and 50 gifts to poor students who have overcome difficulties in the area. At the same time, they also awarded 1 group and 17 individuals with outstanding achievements in site clearance for the project.
Previously, on November 2, Quang Tri province started construction of three boarding schools in Dakrong, Thuong Trach and Dan Hoa communes.
