Tuyen Hoa homeland is proud of Major General Hoang Sam

(QBĐT) - The land of Tuyen Hoa is proud to have produced many outstanding children for the homeland and the country; among them is Major General Hoang Sam - the Captain of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army (VNTTGPQ). In particular, together with comrade Vo Van Luan, from Duc Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district had 2 out of 34 soldiers participating in the VNTTGPQ Team. The name and career of Major General Hoang Sam are always associated with the growth steps of the Vietnam People's Army.

Comrade Hoang Sam, real name Tran Van Ky (born in 1915) in a poor farmer family in Le Son village, Van Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa). A land rich in revolutionary tradition, with a tradition of studiousness. Le Son village is not only famous for its tradition of "First in Eight Famous Villages" in the mandarinate, but this place is also famous for the movement of fencing off fighting villages to protect the gateway to Tuyen Hoa war zone during the resistance war against French colonialism...

These factors played an important role in shaping the personality and patriotism of the young boy Tran Van Ky, who then enthusiastically participated in revolutionary activities and fought to protect his homeland and country. The life and career of Major General Hoang Sam left a deep mark on the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people.

In 1927, Tran Van Ky and his family left their homeland to live in Thailand. In 1928, when he was only 13 years old, Tran Van Ky met Nguyen Ai Quoc (alias Thau Chin) when he came to work in Thailand. Seeing that Tran Van Ky was intelligent, active, and had a high sense of revolutionary awareness, he was chosen by the President to be a liaison officer. In 1933, Tran Van Ky was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party and worked in the Association of Patriotic Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.

In 1934, he was arrested by Thai secret police. After a year of detention, he was released and expelled from Thailand, and was secretly sent to China to continue his activities. In 1936, Tran Van Ky went to Guangxi to contact a revolutionary base and was sent to study Chinese. In early 1937, Tran Van Ky returned to Vietnam and worked at the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee.

In 1938, he joined the anti-Japanese guerrilla team of the Communist Party of China at the Vietnam-China border. In 1940, Tran Van Ky went to Tinh Tay (China) to contact his superiors. Here, he met Thau Chin again and learned that he was leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and was given the alias Hoang Sam by Uncle Ho.

In early 1941, Hoang Sam was assigned by his superiors to work with comrades Phung Chi Kien, Le Quang Ba, Dang Van Cap... to protect Uncle Ho from China back to Pac Bo (Cao Bang). At the end of 1941, the Cao Bang guerrilla team was established, Hoang Sam was appointed as deputy team leader, then team leader. As deputy team leader and then team leader, Hoang Sam was famous as a loyal, experienced, brave, and resourceful revolutionary activist, with special talent in shooting, horse riding, and subduing bandit groups in the Cao Bang area. In 1943, the Cao Bang guerrilla team dispersed its forces to serve as the core in various places, he was assigned the task of organizing a protection team for the Southern Advance volunteer teams.

On December 22, 1944, the VNTTGPQ Team - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army - was established and Hoang Sam was appointed team leader. He directly commanded the victories in the battles of Phai Khat and Na Ngan, opening the tradition of "hundred battles, hundred victories" of the Vietnam People's Army.

After the August Revolution in 1945, Hoang Sam was transferred to Vinh Yen to command the force to suppress the reactionary elements of the Kuomintang, Commander of the Tay Tien Front, and Chief of War Zone II and War Zone III. With his outstanding achievements during his participation in revolutionary activities, in 1948, in the first promotion of military ranks of the Vietnam People's Army, Hoang Sam was honored to be promoted to the rank of Major General.

During the two resistance wars against France and the US, he was a general who rushed into battle, trusted by Uncle Ho and General Vo Nguyen Giap to be assigned many important responsibilities in the most fierce and fierce fronts. He was the soul of the Tri-Thien Front in the fight against the US. In December 1968, Hoang Sam heroically sacrificed himself on the battlefield at the age of 53. His revolutionary life is a glorious history, he became a famous general for the country, for the people, making his homeland Tuyen Hoa and Quang Binh more glorious. Every Tuyen Hoa citizen is always proud of and remembers him, learning from his example of loyalty and wholeheartedness for the Party and for the people.

After more than 41 years of revolutionary activities and nearly 35 years of arduous fighting, Major General Hoang Sam was awarded the First Class Military Exploit Medal, the First Class Victory Medal, and the First Class Resistance Medal by the Party and the State. In 1999, he was posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the State. The Hanoi People's Committee named a street in Cau Giay District after him.

Major General Hoang Sam is not only the pride of his hometown Tuyen Hoa but also the pride of the armed forces of Quang Binh and the Vietnam People's Army. The material and spiritual values ​​of Major General Hoang Sam for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland and homeland still remain valuable. The good qualities of a loyal revolutionary soldier that Major General Hoang Sam left behind are valuable experiences in the leadership, direction and organization of the implementation of military and defense tasks of the local armed forces.

Today, Major General Hoang Sam's military knowledge, strategic command skills, and cleverness in using people and winning over his subjects are lessons closely linked to the practical training, combat readiness, and mass mobilization work of local army units. With his noble qualities and great contributions to the revolutionary cause, Major General Hoang Sam has become a typical celebrity in modern Vietnamese history.

Proud to be the hometown of the heroic general, in recent years, the Party Committee and the government of Tuyen Hoa district and Van Hoa commune have always paid attention to preserving, maintaining and promoting those great values. The district and Van Hoa commune have organized the collection of documents related to the life and career of Major General Hoang Sam. The land for building the memorial house of Major General Hoang Sam is planned with an area of ^{​​2,000m2} in the center of Van Hoa commune. The name of the Major General was chosen by the district to name a street in the center of Dong Le town.

These are very meaningful activities, showing gratitude for the great contributions of Major General Hoang Sam to the cause of national liberation; and are the pride of the people of Tuyen Hoa when this place has become a revolutionary "red address". At the same time, to contribute to educating the tradition of patriotism for generations of students, schools in the area have focused on teaching local history; organized extracurricular activities to talk about the life and career of Major General Hoang Sam as well as national heroes and organized visits to historical sites in the area. Thereby, arousing in the students pride and respect, gratitude for the role and contributions of heroes so that they can strive to study and build their homeland to develop more and more.

Towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024); 150 years of the founding and development of Tuyen Hoa district (1875-2025); 135 years of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025); 110 years of Major General Hoang Sam's birthday (1915-2025), cadres, party members and people of Tuyen Hoa will continuously learn from the example of Major General Hoang Sam, promote a high sense of responsibility to successfully complete assigned tasks, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

Learning from and following the example of Major General, the Party Committee and people of Tuyen Hoa continue to promote the work of Party building and rectification; resolutely fight to prevent and effectively push back the degradation of political ideology, morality, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party, associated with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle to build an increasingly clean and strong Party, striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, the Resolution of the 21st District Party Congress, term 2020-2025; well prepare and implement Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, term 2025-2030, contributing to building the district to be increasingly rich, prosperous, happy, and confident on the path of innovation and development.
