Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh was born in 1967, in An My commune, My Duc district, Hanoi.
He studied and obtained an engineering degree and a master's degree in defense construction at the Military Technical Academy, and a doctorate in Foundation and Underground Construction at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. He has advanced political theory qualifications.
During more than 35 years of working, Mr. Tran Hong Minh grew up in the military environment, through many leadership and command positions.
During the period from May 2016 to December 2017, he was Major General, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Military Region 1. From January 2018 to September 2019, he was Commander of Military Region 1. He was promoted to Lieutenant General in December 2018.
He was Director of the General Department of Defense Industry from October 2019 to September 2021.
At the 13th National Party Congress, he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and was elected as a delegate to the 15th National Assembly.
