DNO - On August 25, Da Nang Parks and Trees Company mobilized many workers and mechanical vehicles to simultaneously cut branches and twigs of trees on sections and routes according to Decision No. 1723/QD-UBND dated August 17, 2023 of the City People's Committee on the plan to respond to and overcome the consequences of storms on the urban green tree system in the city in 2023.

Accordingly, on the first day, workers and mechanical vehicles will trim branches and tree branches on sections and routes such as: Tran Dang Ninh, Nguyen Huu Tho, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Nguyen Tat Thanh extension, Truong Sa, Hoang Sa, Bach Dang, Ly Tu Trong and the landscape area of Thuan Phuoc bridge, Tran Thi Ly bridge, 29/3 Park...

According to the plan, from now until November 15, 2023, Da Nang Parks and Trees Company will trim tree branches to prevent storms on roads with a width of more than 7.5m and in parks, flower gardens, memorials... that have been ordered by the Department of Construction to maintain the tree system in 2023.

Compared to previous years, the work of pruning tree branches to prevent and combat storms in 2023 (according to Decision No. 1723/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Da Nang City) was carried out later to limit the sudden reduction of shade of shade trees in hot and sunny conditions.

At the same time, there are also some innovations compared to previous years: the city requires priority pruning from the city center, where the population is concentrated, then gradually deploy to the suburban areas (in previous years, pruning was done on suburban roads, with low population density and traffic in case of hot weather first, then gradually deployed to the city center, with high population density).

Specifically, priority is given to pruning in densely populated central streets and traffic areas, school areas, roads vulnerable to storms, wind-barrier areas, coastal areas, and roads with trees affected by unstable infrastructure.

The second new point is that the company implements a plan to prune tree branches and twigs at points or clusters of points at intervals to limit sudden reductions in tree coverage (in previous years, trees were pruned simultaneously along the route)...

Specifically, pilot pruning by point in wind-absorbing areas (intersections with many high-rise buildings) and pruning by section on wind-free roads, riverside, and coastal areas to limit sudden reduction of shade during the hot season.

Fragile trees (royal poinciana, purple muong, lim xet, xà châu, dianthus, Taiwan banyan, etc.) and trees showing signs of being unsafe should be heavily pruned (no more than 35% of the canopy area); other trees can be pruned less (no more than 25% of the canopy area).

The third new point is that this year the City People's Committee allows a pilot program of not pruning tree branches on more than 20 roads and suburban areas with sparse population density and low traffic (pruning branches and twigs is still carried out in the regular maintenance of the tree system).

It is expected that Da Nang Parks and Trees Company will prune the branches of about 45,587 trees out of a total of 64,292 trees of all kinds and install support stakes, reinforce 3,999 trees in vulnerable locations, wind-barred areas, trees showing signs of leaning, dangerous...
