In the world , humanoid robots are becoming a hot topic in the race of "technology giants" and startups. In China, a pilot model of robots working in Xiaomi's super factory has been deployed. With more than 700 AI robots operating around the clock, Xiaomi's electric vehicle factory claims to be able to achieve outstanding production capacity. Very few workers work at the factory, instead, a series of fast-moving robot arms with high precision, skillfully assembling car body parts. The robots move automatically on the floor, transporting materials efficiently to the designated place.
In Germany, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have also used humanoid robots for some assembly or inspection steps. In the US, it is expected that around the beginning of 2026, two technology giants Nvidia and Foxconn will also start implementing a new production model by bringing humanoid robots into the server assembly process at the factory in Houston.
Not only automation in production, robots have now become closer and more frequent companions in the daily lives of people around the world. In China, robots are a familiar image appearing at Cofe+ coffee counters, taking on the automatic brewing process, reducing costs by about 90%.
Or in some Japanese restaurants, with orders placed via tablets, robots delivering food to customers at the restaurant have also become a familiar culinary culture in recent years. Service robots assist humans in many tasks, from automatic vacuum cleaners, pet robots in the family, to monitoring devices in shopping malls or inventory management in warehouses.
Robots are also playing an important role in the field of elderly care. In Germany, researchers have created robots that can take over some of the tasks of nurses and doctors. With a humanoid appearance, the robot doctor Garmi can diagnose, care for and treat patients.
Meanwhile, at the Flos Higashi-Kojiya care facility in southern Tokyo, automated devices that lift elderly people, monitor the behavior of dementia patients, and interact with them have become commonplace. One notable device, called “Hug,” is a robot that can assist wheelchair users in standing up.
Many countries around the world are facing a serious labor crisis due to labor shortages and the world's fastest aging population. Businesses in the service industry, from restaurants to elderly care, are forced to find solutions to overcome labor shortages to maintain operations. Manufacturing robots or service robots are considered one of the flexible and effective solutions to this problem.
Robots not only help reduce labor pressure but also support elderly employees or foreigners in their daily work. Obviously, advances in AI algorithms and increased data volume bring the potential for deeper automation in production and greatly support modern life today. Experts predict that the next 3-5 years will be an important period with rapid progress in AI technology, in which more multi-purpose robots will appear around the picture of human life. Robots can take on up to 2/3 of human responsibilities at work, and artificial AI will develop more strongly in automation.
According to a survey by McKinsey, the rate of automation in office jobs in businesses such as secretaries, assistants, and jobs related to analysis will increase in the coming time, of which 20% will be replaced by artificial AI.
So, can robots replace humans in the future? It may sound scary, but most of the tasks that robots do are repetitive and pre-programmed. When robots can take over that group of tasks, humans can focus on more interesting and creative elements.
The world is always moving, the combination of machine skills and human intelligence is certainly the perfect formula to promote social development in the process of global digital transformation. Of course, this trend also opens up new challenges in human resources, and it may take many more years to reshape the labor market.
