Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province, said that Thanh Tuyen Festival 2025 will take place from October 3 to 5 (August 12 to 14 of the lunar calendar) at the provincial administrative center and localities.
The highlight is the "Thanh Tuyen Festival Night" on the evening of October 4 with more than 60 giant Mid-Autumn lantern models, elaborately and creatively designed, recreating the colorful festival space.
In addition to the opening ceremony taking place on the evening of October 3 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, there will also be a Trade - Tourism Fair, a Vietnamese cuisine exhibition, a Beer Festival and many sports activities, promising to create a vibrant and attractive atmosphere at this year's Thanh Tuyen Festival.
These days, the festive atmosphere has spread to every residential area and village. Many residential groups have basically completed models for the parade.
Among them, familiar images such as dragons, elephants, and carps symbolize strength, prosperity, and luck and are chosen by many villages to create models.
Mr. Le Duc Dung, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Residential Group 12 Tan Quang, Minh Xuan Ward, said that to contribute to creating an impression for tourists in the Thanh Tuyen Festival 2025, the residential group has joined hands to complete the "Phoenix" lantern model.
Before starting the project, the households met to discuss and agree on the idea; despite being busy with their own work, everyone still took advantage of the evening to contribute together.
The “Phoenix” model is not only a unique work of art, with elegant beauty, a symbol of virtue and the harmony of yin and yang, but also evokes the legend of the sacred bird appearing in a time of peace and prosperity.
Through this, people want to send a message to the young generation: try hard to study, strive to rise up, continue and promote the thousand-year-old cultural tradition of the nation.
At the production workshop in Group 2, Minh Xuan Ward, Mr. Pham Van Sang and his workers are busy completing giant Mid-Autumn lantern models to serve the Thanh Tuyen Festival 2025.
“Previously, lamps made of bamboo were very difficult to shape. Since switching to iron frames, bending is easier, the flat surface makes it easier to stick paper, and the product is also more complete and aesthetically pleasing,” said Mr. Pham Van Sang.
To build a large lamp model, the craftsman must put a lot of heart and soul into every detail and accumulate experience over many years.
Thanks to that, Mr. Sang has created dozens of vivid lamp models with various themes: dragons, carp, elephants, or familiar fairy tale characters.
Each product is not only a unique work of art, but also shows the pride of the craftsman, contributing to the brilliant colors of Thanh Tuyen Festival, a unique Mid-Autumn cultural highlight of Tuyen Quang.
It is known that the cost of making each large mid-autumn lantern is about 80-150 million VND, contributed voluntarily by residents of residential groups.
The lamp model is quite large with a height of more than 3m, a length of more than 12m and a sophisticated lighting system that ensures a sparkling, brilliant night.
These days, at the intersection of Binh Thuan Street (Minh Xuan Ward), the models are displayed every night, attracting thousands of visitors.
Children eagerly watch the giant, glowing lanterns, while adults are absorbed in capturing the beautiful moments. All blend together to create a bustling, jubilant festival picture.
Along with the joy, the work of ensuring security, order and traffic safety is focused on. Minh Xuan Ward Police and functional forces have developed a plan to divide and regulate traffic, ensuring smooth traffic for residents and tourists.
The parade route is clearly defined, the models move in formation, stay in one lane, and do not stop outside the designated points to avoid congestion.
The organizers also require participating units to comply with the Road Traffic Law, not to stop and park illegally at intersections; at the same time, mobilize people and tourists to raise community awareness, together building a civilized and friendly festival.
Since its first organization in 2004, and by 2014, when it was upgraded to a provincial level, Thanh Tuyen Festival has become the largest Mid-Autumn Festival in the country, recognized by Guinness Vietnam for many records such as: the festival with the largest number of Mid-Autumn lantern models, "The largest Mid-Autumn Festival tray in Vietnam", "The largest pair of lanterns in Vietnam".
Each giant lamp model is not only a unique work of art, but also a crystallization of the love, pride and creativity of the people.
The success of the festival is made possible by the consensus and active participation of the community; the careful preparation of the government; and the high sense of responsibility of the functional forces.
With the theme “Sparkling Colors of Thanh Tuyen Festival Night”, this year’s festival promises to bring visitors impressive experiences, harmoniously combining tradition and creativity, both connecting the community and promoting the image of Tuyen Quang land and people - a land rich in historical, cultural and hospitable traditions.
During the National Day holiday on September 2 this year, tens of thousands of tourists from all over the country are expected to flock to Tuyen Quang to participate in the giant lantern procession and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival early.
Coming to Tuyen Quang on this occasion, visitors can not only enjoy the sparkling festival space, but also explore historical relics, scenic spots, and local cuisine.
