On April 3, Samsung informed three major telecom carriers in Korea about its decision to postpone the launch date of the Galaxy S25 Edge. Previously, this product was expected to be available to the public in April, but was postponed to May or June.
Some rumors suggested that the reason was due to a recent change in leadership. However, reputable leaker Roland Quandt, citing “sources close to Samsung,” confirmed that the delay was due to “technical reasons” and that further testing of the phone was required.
While the source did not specify what those technical issues were, Quandt said they could be serious enough to force the company to cancel the Galaxy S25 Edge launch.
Roland Quandt has a history of accurately revealing tech products before they are officially announced. Previously, he revealed details about the OnePlus 8 Pro's triple-sensor camera, and more recently he also confirmed the Galaxy Z Flip 5's hinge mechanism.
In a post on Bluesky, Quandt wondered “whether Samsung might decide to cancel it altogether.” In another, he suggested that “the official images I posted earlier may be the only ones we ever see of the phone.”
Samsung's last-minute cancellation of the Galaxy S25 Edge would be surprising, given that the company teased the device at its Galaxy Unpacked event in January. The phone is significantly thinner (6.4mm) than other Galaxy phones.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, equipped with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. At the same time, the phone also has upgrades such as a 3,900mAh battery with 25W fast charging support, a 200MP main camera and a 12MP secondary camera, allowing for impressive panoramic photography.
With the phone still likely to launch in the next few months, we'll likely hear more soon, but if there's no news, that could be a sign that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has indeed been canceled.
