Ready for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025

Over the years, the Department of Education and Training has fulfilled its advisory role to the Provincial People's Committee in organizing the 10th grade entrance exams, ensuring safety, seriousness and compliance with regulations. In particular, maintaining the target of 75% of students entering public high schools and 25% entering other forms of streaming (vocationaleducation , continuing education, etc.) approved by the Provincial People's Committee, demonstrates a strategic vision in career orientation for students.

Typically, last school year, the Department of Education and Training advised on organizing 10th grade admissions by combining entrance exams and selection. With 27,654 candidates registering for 37 entrance exam schools and 14 selection schools, the exam recorded 22,332 students eligible to enter 10th grade high school, including 22,121 public students and 211 non-public students. This rate reached 72.87% of the total number of junior high school graduates (22,332/30,644), showing the effectiveness in maintaining the proposed streaming target.

The 2025-2026 school year marks an important milestone as this is the first year that junior high school students have completed the 2018 General Education Program at this level. In order to comprehensively assess the level of students on the general level of the province according to the educational goals after completing the junior high school program, the Department of Education and Training has advised the Provincial People's Committee to decide on a new admission method: 100% entrance exam to all public high schools. The exam will take place simultaneously over 2 days (June 3 and 4). In particular, specialized schools, high schools for ethnic minorities and public schools will take the exam on the same day, creating consistency and convenience for the organization.

This year's exam is organized according to new regulations (Circular 30/2025/TT-BGDDT, dated December 30, 2024), bringing remarkable new points in the enrollment work. Instead of the Department of Education and Training establishing an Admissions Committee as before, the Provincial People's Committee will establish a Steering Committee for the 10th grade entrance exam. This enhances the position and responsibility of the exam, ensuring unified leadership and direction from the highest level of the province. Another important new point is the announcement of the benchmark scores at the same time as the exam scores. This helps students and parents quickly grasp the results and orient the next steps, creating transparency and reducing waiting time.

As the standing body of the exam steering committee, the Department of Education and Training proactively develops a plan to organize and synchronously implement the preparation stages to ensure that the exam takes place seriously - safely - in accordance with regulations - fairly - effectively. The whole province plans to arrange 47 examination councils, with 931 examination rooms, ensuring enough space and conditions for candidates to take the exam. Of these, there are 4 combined examination councils and 2 councils with 2 examination locations, demonstrating flexibility in arrangement to optimize resources. The arrangement of candidates for the exam at the examination councils is carefully calculated, ensuring convenience for candidates and compliance with the examination regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

The enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year is 19,490 candidates. The total number of candidates registered for the entrance exam is 22,974, of which 1,283 candidates registered for specialized subjects. The Department of Education and Training pays special attention to fully preparing the conditions for organizing the exam. Specifically, ensuring adequate facilities, equipment, and supplies for creating questions, printing questions, invigilation, and grading, meeting the requirements for organizing the exam seriously, safely, and in accordance with regulations. At the same time, mobilizing and assigning cadres, teachers, and employees to participate in the stages of the exam, including: invigilators, supervisors, examiners, inspectors, and inspectors of the exam work, service staff, security, medical staff , etc. according to the prescribed structure, quantity, and standards.

To better visualize the preparation work at the exam sites, we can look at Long Xuyen High School. With 428 candidates registering for the 10th grade exam, the school's board of directors has implemented it systematically. Accordingly, the exam storage room has 2 separate cabinets, with locks and cameras, a common room, a reserve room, a waiting room, and a place to store candidates' belongings, ensuring a distance of 25m. The school coordinates propaganda work with departments, organizations, and local authorities to prepare conditions for the 10th grade entrance exam, such as: Contacting My Long ward to coordinate to support order at the gate and the police to protect the inner ring according to regulations; coordinating with Long Xuyen City Medical Center to prepare epidemic prevention measures, ensuring the exam takes place safely and seriously.

Careful preparation from the provincial level to each testing site, along with smooth coordination between departments, branches, sectors and local authorities, is necessary for the 2025-2026 school year's 10th grade entrance exam to take place successfully.
